Unorthodox design
Very unpleasant in form and fit. To compressing as wire is pre-tensioned by design. Thought after years of wearing conventional muffs I just might like this design. NO, not for me.

Weak earpiece
Plastic arm that attaches the wire to the ear muff breaks easily making the protectors useless. Caldwell doesn't show a replacement part.

Worth purchasing
These ear protectors are a good buy, and I'm very happy with them. The fit was comfortable, and they fit under my headgear. They pass the softer sounds well, and damping of the loud sounds was quick and effective. My only suggestion is that they could use a fabric strap across the top of the head to hold them in vertical position. As I was moving and shooting, I could feel them dropping until they bent down the top of my ear. I may try to build such a strap and attach it.

Good value but they have a weak spot.
Since I prefer behind the head the choices are limited. These are OK. They work fairly well. The clamping last a bit too long so when much shooting is going on, it's hard to have a conversation. 1/2 second is a long time when trying to talk. I always carry 2 sets because they break easily. The plastic piece that attaches to the earpiece breaks without much pressure. Once I called Caldwell and they would not sell me the replacement pieces but they did send me a new headset. At this point I had 3 headsets and enough parts to make 2. I have since learned to be more careful when putting them on by holding them by the spring wires rather than the earpieces.
Now for the good news. You can buy the non electronic version for $10.99 so for a few bucks. you get 4 replacement brackets to extend the life of your electronic headset

background noise.
just bought these and there is a constant ticking sound and constant static. directions said to sut off cell phones and microwaves. i had a different brand and had no problem with "background noise"

Weak ear support.
Had these for a while. Very comfortable however the 3rd time I used them the muff support broke. Not sure there are any parts available. Never received an answer from Caldwell. :(
