wong p : can this be used as a step down for 67 mm lenses.?CHUCK K : Since there are no female threads on the the adaptor (only 77mm male threads) it cannot be used as a step down ring. It also means you can't use a standard Canon lens cap. Adding enough metal to include female threads either ruined the wide angle capabilities (introducing vignetting) or it was a [blunder] in my opinion.THOMAS Z : This item alone cannot be used as a step-down ring. This item attaches to a lens as a 77mm filter would, and then (on the front side) allows my LEE Matte box (which has a filter holder built-in) to slip on and be secured by a spring loaded clip. If I had a lens that required 67mm filters I might be able to use a step-up ring (67-77 filter size) to attach this same rig.
I am assuming your 4-filter holder attaches in a fashion similar to my matte box with the 2-filter holder, which is to slip over and latch onto this adaptor ring, using no threading. The other side of the adaptor ring attaches to the front of the lens as a filter would, screwing onto the threads intended for a filter.
Lee makes a one-piece adaptor ring that would screw on to a 67mm lens and then allow the filter holder to slip on the front. This would provide the minimum distance between the front lens element and the attached filter.
Using a simple 67-77 ring might be less expensive than purchasing the Lee adaptor ring, but the filter holder would end up not as close to the lens. Vignetting could occur, but likely would not occur, because of the greater surface area of the 77mm filter vs. the 67mm lens.NIKOLAI L : Dear Zechariah,
Yes, generally you can use it with a step-down ring. However if you are planning to use a wide-angle lens you may get some vignetting. Vignetting also depends on the camera format. You will be safe up to about 30mm effective focal length.

Well-made product
Like others, mine came with LEE packaging. It works well and does the job it was made for. It's very expensive for what you get, but with the LEE filter system, I don't see what choice we have.

Fits perfectly to my lee holder system
This is actually from lee filters. Cnetury optics is a subsidary of lee filters and it fits perfectly

Exactly what you'd expect
Haven't got a wider focal length than 17 mm on DX, but still had vignetting issues with circular rotation polarizer + lee 77 adapter ring. Now I don't.
