Questions & Answers

Shopper : Can this film be sent to a standard film lab for developing?KUTTER M : It would be best to contact the film lab and ask. This film can be developed without using the recommended adotech developer and several developers are outlined on the commonly used massive dev chart—good chance that most film labs that process black and white will have one of the developers listed or have a good idea where to go from there. Also, it’s super simple to develop this at home. I’ve developed adox cms20 with several different developers and this film makes flat, zero contrast scenes absolutely rocket into life.KRZYSZTOF J : Yes, but you will not like the results as you need a special developer (Adotech IV). That said, the film is thin and hard to handle but the results can be fantastic if you work carefully.VLADIMIR S : It can be, but result will be completely unpredictable ;-( . Depending on how you want to use film, as continuous tone or as the hi-contrast one, the development and developer will be different. This film allows almost no room for error.

Using the dedicated developer, the detail is truly amazing. Read the instructions carefully and shoot ether with a lot of light, a tripod, or both.

Very good film if you know what you are doing

The spectral sensitivity of ADOX CMS 20 differs only slightly from that of other slow speed films. When designing the emulsion special care was taken to achieve a superior tonal differentiation. CMS differs very good between red and blue. His sensitivity ranges from 400nm just until 650 nm. He is thus an orthopanchromatically sensitized film. ADOX CMS 20 is a monodisperse, ultrahigh resolving document-film. In order to make this material usable for pictorial photography ADOX developed the ADOTECH (Not Included) chemistry system which leads to superior results.

Film Type
Silver halide recording material with an anti-halation layer in between emulsion and film base yielding highest sharpness and resolving power. Light cannot diffuse within the base layer.
