I bought the retro FujiFilm x100s. It uses an actual cable release that screws into the shutter button. So much for electronics. My OLD cable was only 8 inches and made using it tedius if the camera was on or near the ground. This 40 inch version is terrific. Screws in where it should and has a set screw to enable use of the Bulb setting for timed exposure. The cable is flexible enough to roll up into a convenient size that easily fits into my small bag. Who knew I could still get excited about a manual device.

The best use I have for a cable release is to capture fireworks and lightning. Also works well when you have a very slow shutter speed and you don't want to shake the tripod.

[...]I much prefer the cloth covered remote cables to the plastic coated ones. They last longer, are more flexible and feel better on cold or hot days.

I find these work great with my manual cameras. I have more than one of these cords and this type with the cloth cover is well made and superior to the black vinyl cords. The price on this is reasonable too. It is not the fanciest but it works.

I love the cloth cover. It is much better than the old vinyl covered cables that look like they came off a bicycle. A great all around cable for older model cameras.
