ProOPTIC Pro Optic Screw Mount Lens To Pentax K Body Adapter

I tried two different screw mount lenses on both of my Pentax DSLR's. Neither lens would focus at infinity on either camera! This was NOT mentioned in the description. I am returning this adapter. Unlike the other reviews, I had no trouble removing the adapter from the camera. The photo above does NOT match the adapter!!

This thing attached to the camera in a jiffy however absolutely could not be removed. It was jammed into the friction ring somehow. I removed the plate with the five screws and in the process broke a wire to the friction ring. The camera has been sent to Pentax. Note that I am the third of five who commented that they could not remove it. I called Bowers and the gentleman tried to instruct me to remove it but to no avail. He said to remove the screw and clip from the device. When removed, the clip and screw fell off anyway. Luckily, not into the camera body.

With a simple turn, I have access to all my screw mount Pentax lenses on my new DSLR...Excellent

I bought this to replace an original Pentax adapter, thinking they would all be about the same. I also thought the included tool would be handy to remove the adapter from the body. Once in place, my lenses wouldn't line up in their proper orientation, the focus became stiff, the apertures were too, I thought I wasn't going to be able to get the adapter off the camera and on and on. Don't buy this!

This is not the Bower brand as pictured in the illustration. It is a ProOptic brand item. When mounted to the camera there is about 15 degrees of play. This is enough to provide at least 1 stop overexposure with most K-mount bodies due to inaccurate coupling. The worst part is that the brand new unit now appears to be permanently attached to my camera. Try as I might, I have been unable to free the spring catch from the body to remove the adapter. So...buyer beware...this is not a recommended item!

The best way to use this adapter, is to remove the spring clip. And glue [one drop] the ring to the threads of the lens and use the lens as any other k-lens. Also you can make a hole on the lens base to lock the lens to the camera. [remove ring and put rear cap back on to protect glass before drilling]
