I bought my Headphones about 2,5 years ago, and "leather" is peeling of on the headrest and also starting on the earpads. Really, really lousy for Headphones in this price range. And it is not because I have not been taking really good care of them and been very gentle in the maintainence of them. I really love the sound, and that is very good, but it cannot weigh up for the poor "leather quality." Now I should like to see, what Denon has to say about this.

I had the luck of going to an audio show in Tokyo and while I was there I listened to the three denon headphones, 5200, 7200, 9200. Since I was on vacation I didn't plan on that kind of expense but after getting back home there was a black Friday sale on the 5200. I had to get them. Since listening in trade shows are not always the best examples, I purchased the 5200 and some hifiman sundara. In case the denon didn't stand up. Well my wife and I have been enjoying the denons ever since. Tried them on jdslabs atom, sony receiver, vintage technics integrated amp, cellphone dongle dacs, cheap class-d integrated amp, portable daps and they sound good to great on all. Very listenable, with layering and detail. Depending on the device powering them the soundstage will open some more and more detail will show.

I got these on the black friday last year for more than $400 off, and while I wouldn't say at $700 they would be worth it, for the price I got them, and probably up to $400-500, these things rock. They are the best looking and feeling headphones i've ever worn. The wood is fantastic on these, and combined with the fantastic metal build all around, they're a bit heavy, but feel as premium as a headphone can be. Sound wise, they're very warm sounding, which is my personal preference for sound signature. I've used them for music, including rock, metal, pop, folk, classical, you name it, gaming, and movies, and its treated me well in all categories. There is great imaging and sound-stage, and while the sound-stage isnt as wide as something like the X2HR, its good enough. In terms of comfort, I could wear these things for hours and hours. The cups are a high quality pleather that prevents my ears from touching the driver, and after using these for almost a year ive still never had my ears hurt after hours of use. Clamping force is not strong, but good enough where they will not slide off your ears if you're looking around. The only complaints I have is that when I first got these there was some slight creaking I would hear from my right ear, however that seems to have went away. The cable that comes with these is also ridiculously long, but I replaced it with a solid $15 cable off amazon. Overall, these headphones would receive a 5/5 from me. They are everything I could ever ask in a headphone, from fantastic sound, to fantastic looks, to fantastic build. Let me "knock on wood" to make sure it stays that way.

These premium over-ear headphones are a testament to Denon's 50-year legacy of headphone excellence, offering an immersive listening experience that defies expectations.
The heart of these headphones lies in their Japanese-made FreeEdge 50mm drivers. These drivers, built from materials selected for their rigidity and low mass, minimize unwanted resonances in the diaphragm, delivering detailed and accurate sound reproduction. Mounted on vibration-reducing resin baffles, the drivers move effortlessly in response to the music signal, eliminating flexing or distortion for the purest possible sound.
The AH-D5200 headphones are not just about exceptional sound; they are also a visual and tactile delight. The real zebrawood housing, known for its beautiful, high-contrast, and individually unique natural wood grain pattern, not only adds to the aesthetic appeal but also aids in sound dampening. This high-density, exotic material helps dampen unwanted resonances, bringing warmth and life to the sound, akin to a concert hall quality experience.
Comfort is paramount when it comes to long listening sessions, and the AH-D5200 headphones deliver on this front as well. With an ergonomic design, minimal side pressure, engineered leather ear pads, and 3D shaped memory foam, these headphones fit easily on the head and stay in place, allowing you to enjoy your favorite music for hours on end.

The authentic zebrawood housing is complemented by soft, engineered leather, offering an artisanal design that matches the audiophile sound. The headphones also feature a durable diecast-aluminum hanger that frames the housing, providing long-lasting quality and axis flexibility.
To ensure the AH-D5200 headphones continue to provide superior sound and comfort for years to come, they come with a detachable cable and a compact case for safe storage.
