This is my SECOND receiver where the hdmi out port just stopped working. Denon replaced the first one and I plugged the hdmi cable in and it worked right off the bat. I went to turn it on and it said firmware update, but I noticed there was no onscreen menu. All I could think of is NOT AGAIN...Seriously? I had the first one less than 7 months before it blew out and now this happened AGAIN. Whatever company they are using to put in these hdmi boards, they are defective and this product should be recalled. 1200 bucks down the drain.

Superb Receiver ! !

Great product My previous Receiver which served me well was a Harmon Kardon. That finally died after 13 years. Stepping up to this receiver has been a treat tons of options and abilities. Currently set up for 7.2.4 and deciding what external Amp to pick up to drive the remaining two channels.. Will probably use it on my front left and right. Everything has worked perfectly with no issues what so ever. (be sure to try out your system with a actual Blu-Ray Disc for some uncompressed Dolby Atmos to really flex your system its like night and day the robustness of the sound compared to the compressed audio stream from netflix, prime and competitors).

Audysssey MultEQ 32 not working properly

I cannot get my reciever to go through more than 1 roun dof audio testing before it won't go any further. Have ot shut off receiver. Not expecting this. It's my 4th Denon over the years.

Issues with Dolby Atmos on the Xbox one X in Denon

-I’m not getting Dolby Atmos on games that has Atmos tracks AND the Dolby Atmos software on my XBOX ONE X...but 4K blu-ray disks with Atmos track plays in Atmos with no problems on my XBOX. -I called XBOX support, but they couldn’t help. -All my setting on XBOX are correct. -I have the Dolby app. (Uninstalled it and reinstalled it multiple times.) -Atmos also works fine on my APPLE TV 4K and OPPO 203 when played using my Denon X3600H....but not my XBOX Please help, as I have contacted Microsoft, and Dolby, and they blamed Denon.

I love this receiver, but....

...I upgraded specifically for the Bluetooth connection that allows you to connect wireless headphones/earbuds and listen to the TV/Music/Etc without blasting away everyone else in the house. I was able to connect my Bose QC35 and my B+O H9i headphones as well as my B+O E8Motion earbuds. But I can only get a signal out of the Bose. Nothing comes through on the B+O's. And what I do get on the Bose are volume-limited, so you can't really crank it up the way you'd like. I know this functionality was added to the AVR-X3600H after initial production, so perhaps there's a software update in the works that'll fix this. Is that the case? Or is there something else I should know?

Excellent Receiver - Running 7.2.4

I bought this receiver as a Christmas present for me. It was time to re-vamp my home theatre system which was setup before HDMI using 7.1 analog inputs. This receiver has taken me right to the front of the line with my theatre, and the sound is incredible. The Audyssey sound setup did a super job to start, with a couple of minor personal preferences to tune it up. I did have the problem people have noted with the xbox one, and did need to roll back the firmware BUT! This is not the fault of Denon, it is either the Dolby application for xbox, or the xbox itself not being as up to date for sound processing as the receiver. Once I did that, perfection. The front speakers are running on a separate amplifier, and integrate perfectly with all other speakers, the sound flows smoothly in the room from speaker to speaker - no abrupt changes or dropped ranges of sound. For those who have not moved to a 4K projector, it is good to note the receiver easily takes in a 4K blu-ray to gain all the Atmos sound, but will output an extremely sharp 1080p picture. This has bought me a little move time before I need to update that too. All my old movies are new again, and now I actively hunt down media with Atmos. My sons play games on the system too, and for Atmos enabled games it is just WOW - I just sit, watch and listen sometimes. Loving my home theatre again thank to the Denon receiver!

Works great minus one major issue

Fix your firmware! Current firmware won't allow Xbox s and x series to run Atmos just multichannel only! Original firmware works fine and Atmos works so I had to do a network reset to go back to original firmware .

The X3600H: An excellent product!

I have had the X3600H for about 6 weeks now and I am really impressed with the picture quality and the quality of the audio. My overall goal was to upgrade my entire home theater setup. New speakers and a new AVR. The driving force was to implement height channels. I’m getting content from “the company a mouse built.” The new streaming service from mouse will support Dolby Atmos height channels. I found an action sequence a movie that took place on a rainy night. There were shots, explosions, breaking glass from second and third story rooms. There were two people using katana blades fighting on the street and the director put the camera in between the combatants. The sound engineers had put the rain falling downward, as the explosions went off bricks and glass cane falling to the ground. As the katana fighters would swing their blades it would make that shimmering sound just above your head. When a blade was blocked it would make that distinctive sound. Then men, women and children could be heard crying and screaming from the rooms above. In this case Dolby Atmos puts you in the middle of the action. It places you inside the movie experience. The Denon allows you to experience this type of immersion at a reasonable price. In my case the power is more than adequate but if it ever became a problem one can always add an external amp. I’m driving a 5.1 for surround sound and 4 height, Atmos, channels - a total of 9 speakers with the X3600H. I have a locally powered subwoofer running on a dedicated wireless connection. I may add an additional subwoofer sometime in the future to better balance the bass experience in the room. As a point, this driving force on a second subwoofer is not a deficiency of the AVR, rather it is a problem with the room. I would definitely buy the X3600H again, I have no second thoughts. I would, and have recommend it to my friends.

Great receiver

Love it - but not sure how to engage 5.1 when in HEOS - only the front and speaker channels are providing music. All channels engage with Netflix movies but not HEOS - why not? Also, every time I engage HEOS on my TV screen it wants me to retype my log in - frustrating - how can I resolve these two?

Powerful sound. Easily powers large speakers

I upgraded to the ARV-X3600H. The last receiver (onkyo) I had was billed as network ready, but the experience was not stellar. This was fairly easy to get going, and I love the power from it. Easily powers my 5.2.4 setup.

Atmos issues with Xbox One X

Looks like there are Atmos issues with the Xbox one X and this Denon receiver. The receiver shows multi channel. Nothing else. Some forums are saying down grade the firmware. That isn't the right answer.

Had many amps over the years. This is the best.

I was upgrading from a very nice Yamaha but it lacked hdcp 2 for 4K HDR. Also wanted ATMOS. I was in no way disappointed! This thing is amazing. And it actually has an 11.2 channel preamp so going full 11 channels only requires an external amp. And you can assign that to your front speakers. The Audessy x32 room correction is superb. Can’t say enough good things about this amp including a web server so you can change all the settings on the amp from a browser. Not well publicized but what a cool feature!
