Works perfectly with my Dell laptop.

This adapter works perfectly. I chose to buy this from Dell because I needed it to work - guaranteed. And I wanted support in case there was an issue, which there was not.

Works with laptops without docking stations connecting to older monitors with VGA

Works with laptops without docking stations connecting to older monitors with VGA. However, buttons on monitor don't work and show a lock on screen; unable to access monitor settings to change sharpness. Additionally, I understand that VGA is only capable of a certain resolution and not as high as the monitor is capable of; image is a bit fuzzy.
