Denon D-M40 Desktop High Fidelity Micro System
Combining purist audio performance with a small desktop footprint, the D-M40 micro system delivers astonishing sound thanks to the use of premium grade components, superlative Denon engineering along with high performance monitor speakers that feature European sound tuning. Equipped with a built-in CD player that's compatible with CD-R and CD-RW discs, the RCD-M40 features a USB input with auto-charge for iDevices, along with an analog stereo input and 2 optical digital inputs.

The amplifier section features Class AB circuitry and delivers 30 watts per channel. There's also a low-pass filtered subwoofer output for connection to an external sub. In addition to supporting popular audio file types such as MP3, AAC and WMA, the RCD-M40 also supports uncompressed audio formats including WAV and FLAC.

The built-in AM/FM tuner lets you enjoy your favorite radio stations and the RCD-M40 features a clock with timer and sleep timer functions. The ergonomic remote gives you easy control and the elegant front panel features a multi-line alpha-numeric display for maximum clarity. Developed and engineered specifically to pair with the RCD-M40, the included SC-40 speakers feature proprietary cast frame drivers, precision multi-element crossovers and are finished in elegant wood veneers.

Direct USB Connection with Smart Charge
Connect your favorite iDevice (iPod, iPod touch, iPhone) to the front panel USB port and stream your favorite tracks via direct digital connection. While your iDevice is connected to the RCD-40 it's also charging and the USB port delivers a full 5V/1A output, the output of most chargers. When the RCD-M40 is put into standby mode, smart charging continues until the device reaches full charge and then charging stops and the RCD-M40 goes into deep standby mode. Compatibility with WAV, FLAC, AAC on top of MP3 and WMA via USB input. That is where those lossless formats can be played.

Built-in CD Player and AM/FM Tuner
Enjoy your favorite tracks with the built-in CD player, which features compatibility with CD-R and CD-RW discs and can play back MP3 and WMA audio files. The player's digital audio section features a dedicated premium grade 24-bit/192-kHz D/A converter. The built-in AM/FM tuner features a 40-station memory along with auto tuning and auto memory scan.

Premium Grade High Fidelity Speakers
Premium high performance drivers along with precision multi-element crossovers, the SC-40 speakers benefited from European audio tuning during development. Housed in elegant enclosures with real wood veneers, each speaker features a rear bass port and 2 foam bass port plugs are included that let you fine-tune the bass - especially helpful if one or both of the speakers are mounted close to a wall or corner. The RCD-M40 also has a special speaker tuning mode specifically for the SC-40 speakers for the most natural tonal balance.

Featuring Class AB power amplifier circuitry, the RCD-M40 delivers 30 watts per channel of clean sound and features a deluxe multi-fin alloy heat sink that keeps everything cool without the need for a noisy fan.

Superior Audio Engineering with Short Signal Pathways
Featuring Denon's renowned audio engineering, the RCD-M40 features multiple separated circuit boards, to minimize inter-stage interference. Short signal pathways ensure the greatest fidelity from input to output. The tuner section and line level AUX input section feature 100% analog throughput all the way to the premium grade loudspeaker terminals with no digital circuitry in their paths.

Lossless Audio Format Compatibility with Separate D/A Conversion
Along with compatibility for popular audio file types, including MP3, WMA and AAC, the RCD-M40 also decodes lossless (uncompressed) audio file types, including WAV and FLAC. For optimum fidelity, the RCD-M40 features a dedicated 32-bit/192-kHz D/A converter for the USB and optical inputs, separate from an identical D/A converter reserved for the CD player section.

Digital & Analog Inputs
In addition to a stereo analog line-level input the RCD-M40 also has 2 optical digital audio inputs for compatibility with digital sources such as a cable or satellite tuner, game console or any other digital audio source that's equipped with optical digital output.

TV first to connect with one of the optical inputs, as TV should be a hub device in this use case and send out audio from all connected devices such as cable box, gaming console, etc. to the D-M40 with single connection via optical in/out.
