Great minimalist 2 channel receiver. Sound fantastic and has plenty watts to power my speakers, BUT I am sorely missing Dolby Vision support. I don't mind not having Dolby audio as I mostly run everything direct PCM but not having Dolby Vision through HDMI arc is a serious problem for videophiles out there. If they add DV then this would be a home run 2 channel receiver.

Excellent sound quality, I love the simplicity of a 2 channel setup. I only wish they would update this model for eArc support and Dolby Vision. It truly is the one downside to this wonderful receiver.

Lot's of features and I like the bass and treble adjustments. The receiver looks and sounds great with my Klipsch speakers!

Unit performs well, but getting songs on a usb stick to play is a challenge. The on-line user guide shows a series of commands to play the songs, but the screen shots are of a different model's display.

Relatively easy to set up. Sounds really good with all the sources I've tried! I am using smallish bookshelf speakers (Wharfdale Diamond 225 pair) so the bass boost comes in very handy to balance the sound. I'm using a Roku + plugged into one of the inputs and using the ARC to connect my TV. I love the quality, features, and especially the sound!

I suspected, but wasn?t clear that it was refurbished. That said, all functions worked, was easy to set up even though there were no instructions in the box and sounds good with very quiet background. Wanted the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for streaming Tidal and Radio Paradise.

I didn't need a AV receiver. No TV in the living room but it's where I want to listen to music. This fit the bill. More adjustable than I realized and enough power to cleanly fill the room with my pair of speakers. I have a Powered Sub for a nice full sound.

I got this off Amazon and was excited to power two rooms for HEaos / Airplay2. Unfortunately I was not able to get any sound out off the Zone 2 speaker outputs, no matter the input. This is going back

I use it mostly to play CDS and for streaming music via Bluetooth from my phone. The sound is great. It has enough power to drive my two sets of high end speakers simultaneously. Easy to connect and set up, but the quick start guide is inadequate. Had to download the pdf manual from the Denon website.

It is what you should expect from a Denon. The quality for the price is 10/10. Don't expect the results of the 4K receiver because it is not. On the other hand drives great my 2 bookshelf B&W. This is an amp that you should pair it with same value speakers. Not less but not higher either, and it will performs perfect.

This unit is driving 2 Klipsh RF 82II floor speakers and is connected to a Sony XBR 65X950H with a HDMI cable capable to carry the eARC both units are set up for. All he bells and whistles seem to work flawlessly, although there is a slight (about 2-3 seconds) pause while the receiver cuts in. What does surprise me, is the units power. I retired a 12 year Denon rated at 75 watts power and connected by Toslink to the Tv. This unit drove the speakers at 30 to 50% power while the new unit is at 50 to 66% power to achieve the same volume despite being rated at 100 watts. I also notice that background sounds I heard with the old unit are missing on the new one. I should mention that all other units except the CD player are connected to the TV. CDs sound great and are set at a much lower power. I expected the eARC connection to improve my sound. That has not happened.

I bought this to replace the last of a series of disappointing amps I've had over the past several years, and I'm really glad I did. Everything just sounds better now that I have it installed, TV sound, computer sound, but the biggest improvement is with Internet radio and my own music library housed on a NAS file/media server. With my old system my signal chains were a mix of digital and analog where the analog tended to be the weak link. Now, it's all digital via all-HDMI inputs. The DRA's DAC sounds very accurate and clean, as does the amplification. My only complaint is that IMO the 175W power rating is misleading. Maybe this thing can pump out 175W peak to 4-ohm speakers, but I'm driving a pair of Cambridge Minx Min 12's, 'A' speakers only, no secondary channel, and I'm running volume at between about 40 and 60. So this amp may not be ideal for driving less efficient speakers, or if you want volume enough to wake the neighbors or rattle the rafters in your house.

This is my third DENON receiver and I was so happy to finally purchase a DRA-800H. Like all my DENONs, the sound is clean, powerful and detailed. The DRA-800H is rated 120W @ 6 ohms which is a near perfect match for my JBL 530s power requirement which is rated at 125W 6 ohms optimal. I have my AppleTV 4K, Apple MAC MINI, TEAC CD/Tape/USB deck, SONY 4K DVD and SONY pro-Mini Disc deck all functioning perfectly and displayed on my SONY 4K TV. This rig is set-up in my office so I don't need a subwoofer as my speakers deliver the bass efficiently for near-field listening. My only suggestion is that DENON try to improve the graphic readability of the on-screen menus and settings users see on their TV screen when using the system. Otherwise this unit is the working man's hi-res audio solution. Plus the price is worth every penny. I stopped shopping for more expensive audio equipment once I added this to my office system. Excellent job DENON!

I recently sold my Luxman receiver and now really wish I had kept it! The Denon came with some sort of strange white powder on the metal case. What it did NOT come with was a User Manual, so I'm guessing at most of the operations! Sound is dreadful from CD or FM, with everything centered at midrange - no defined low end or high end. I couldn't care less about internet connectivity; I already have a computer system for that.

I purchased this receiver as a source to drive in-ceiling speakers throughout the house, utilizing the receiver speaker outputs and an outboard amp. I was pleasantly surprised at how good it sounds when driving in-ceiling speakers and a sub-woofer! This receiver significantly simplified HDMI switching, which the previous stereo receiver it replaced did not have. The previous receiver did have a zone 2 tone control however, which this receiver does not support. Being able to control tone in zone 2 makes a huge difference in zone 2 sound quality when listening to music. I hope Denon adds it as a future s/w update. Also, this unit has a very good on-screen user interface which makes set-up a breeze! All in all, an excellent stereo receiver!

I love clean audio. I was introduced to high end audio equipment when I took a job at Federated Group, a box store chain back in the 1980s. It was there I first heard Dahlquist, Nakamichi, Macintosh, Hafler, Carver and of course, Denon! From that experience I purchased the best receiver I could afford in 1986, a Denon DRA 335R. Today I still have that very DRA-335R, it still works beautifully and out performed several ensuing purchases, including a Harmon/Kardon HK 3490, which lasted 7 years then blew the output stage and died. So, after seeing Denon had made another 2 channel receiver, I was in! I'm extremely happy with the features and sonic performance of the DRA-800H! Clear, clean music from multiple sources, it is a great receiver, and I hope it lasts as long as my 34 year old DRA-335R!

I really like this amp. It is easy to operate, the app works great for full control of the amp remotely. I was looking for a unit with integrated Airplay2, a subwoofer out, and specifically i wanted just stereo rather than some form of AV receiver, as it is just for music listening. It does all of that well. On the negative, I was hoping to use this for two sets of speakers, utilizing speakers "A" and "B" for two different sitting areas. Unfortunately, the subwoofer is always "on", so if you want to only use speaker set "b" the subwoofer for the "A" speakers will still be audible. Thats dissapointing. It has a zone two out[put, but that isnt powered so I would need another amp to run that zone.

I have two of these running 4 sets of speakers into 4 different rooms in my house. Overall, it has great sound. I like the HEOS app and how it can play Pandora, Amazon, Alexa, etc. It’s very slick. I can control which room plays through the A, B, A+B functionality at the receiver. However, the HEOS app does not control this functionality. It needs to be done at the receiver physically. I called HEOS and they told me that this function was not available. Therefore, I give it 4/5 stars and will change it when it is fixed.

Running the DRA-800H mostly for Spotify connect and home theater it has been really nice. Sound quality is great with good speakers (B&W) and its super convenient using the Spotify app on my phone to begin playing through Spotify connect. I have had issues with glitches. Sometimes requires a restart to switch sources. Sometimes requires a restart to change the eco-mode, display dimmer, initiate setup. Its really strange, and a little annoying which worries me about the firmware rather than the hardware. Overall I enjoy this receiver and its convenience and quality outweigh the occasional glitches.

This is my third Denon receiver starting with the AVR2805 back in 2005 (with AL32) and AVR-S900W more recently. Last week I received the DRA-800H Hi-Fi Network receiver from Amazon since this is exactly what I was looking for. A powerful 2-channel receiver amp that can play Pandora and YouTube music videos with 100W + 100W 8 Ohms discrete, high resolution sound. After hookup and listening to various sources I realized that this new receiver has the same powerful sound that Denon is famous for and the sound that I love so dearly. I hooked it up to my 4K AppleTV with HDMI and to TV HDMI (arc). Setup was a breeze and highly intuitive using the Setup Assistant. Used latest 4K HDR HDMI cables 4.4.4, Cat-8 Ethernet from router, as well as bi-amped (A+B) using 12 AWG Silverback speaker cables to my Monitor Audio Silver 6's toed in and with component isolation using Vibrapods. Still the average man's audiophile setup, but probably sounds just as good as a 100K setup. Make sure your TV has HDMI (arc). Can also hookup a pre-amp such as Shiit Magni3 and use this as an amplifier. A really nice feature is the HEOS button on the remote that gives me access to all my online music sources & tuner channels using one button operation. Same for the Quick Select buttons 1-4. Sound quality of Denon DRA-800H is powerful, detailed and sharp with just the right amount of base. I have heard this sound quality in all my Denon receivers and appears to be in their DNA. After all, it’s all about the sound. Watched Carlos Santana live Europa, Diana Krall, Latin / Cuban music, BB King the Thrill has Gone concert, etc. Denon you just made my life very happy! This is EXACTLY what I wanted. A powerful 2.1 channel receiver, albeit very high quality sound with 100 W/channel and be able to hook up to latest music videos using HDMI / AppleTV / YouTube / AirPlay. A clean setup with top notch sound for music listening. I packed my 7.2 Denon Receiver for future use. One minor downside is that the front USB is not compatible with my iPhone direct input. Surprising change, but can be overcome with AirPlay, BT, HEOS, RCA, etc. The Smart Remote function is a bit confusing for my TV. Minor issues nevertheless. My next dream Denon receiver would be this unit with AL32 processing or the PMA-1600NE with the features & inputs from this DRA-800H 2-channel. Thank you Denon. This is posted on Denon website as well as Amazon.
