Purchased Heos 5 for my office over a year ago. Staff and clients most pleased with performance of the unit. I had one instance in which I required technical support for software refresh and technician and results were stellar...even for a technically challenged person such as myself.

Can't say enough good things about my HEOS 5 speakers. I think they sound way better than Sonos and at this price, it's a no brainer. I also plan on upgrading my receiver to Denon so this just makes sense. Adorama is great to deal with and very accommodating.

I wanted to upgrade the sound system in my basement and had a few requirements: 1. Sound Quality, 2. HEOS, 3. Aesthetics. I'm happy to say that I found all three in the HEOS 5. I bought two because I wasn't sure if one would be enough to fill the room. One HEOS 5 definitely has the power/volume to get the job done but I found the sound to be pointed, lacking the spaciousness I wanted. Adding the second HEOS 5 solved that problem. Sound quality overall is very good. The low end is a little boomier than I prefer, but certainly acceptable from a 5" driver. I think that's easily fixable by adding a sub and turning down the bass on the HEOS 5's. I had two HEOS AVR's already and love the ease of use and whole-house sound. The HEOS 5's joined that setup in minutes. I couldn't get the bluetooth setup option to work. I used the 3mm cable and it was simple and straightforward. Size and shape are good but I'm going to have to get creative to mount them on the wall.

I started with Sonos Play3 and wanted to like it. Didn't tell in love with sound quality, was that boxy artificial sound that made me wonder why they have so many good reviews. I brought Sonus back and switched to Denon's Heos. As soon as I paired it with my phone music started and I just said to myself what a difference. Wow, live sound, it's a keeper. Well, after you have to spend some time to hook it up with Wifi and figure out how to use an application. Hope they will clean all bugs soon.

The hardware is fantastic as would be expected from Denon. Nice, rich sound from a relatively small speaker. The app is not horrible but I'm sure could (and will) get better. I could see the frustration with the pairing process, it took me several attempts before pairing was successful.

When buying wifi, multi-room speaker, we are essentially committing to the platform. This may potentially change once Airplay 2 is released, but I won't count on it. I chose HEOS platform over SONOS, Bluesound, Bose etc. It is most versatile platform with AUX input and bluetooth support allowing potential add ons to support Airplay 1, expand stream service supports beyond SONOS via Google Audiocast etc. Another feature convinced me to go with HEOS series is HEOS 5 and 7 showed low latency/lag with AUX input without WIFI stream play to other speakers whereas SONOS has built in 70 ms delay, and Bose reportedly has similar. Bluesound Pulse 2 had similar delay (tested on my own). So Kudos to HEOS for creating system with low latency. Downside is App, but not a killer. I wish it has better UI like Bluesound or SONOS. Navigation is a bit more user friendly e.g. tapping on button navigation tab should bring all way up to top menu instead of back one menu at a time. Why are they putting config button under music tab? Also, USB compatibility is not as robust as Bluesound. I had issue with WD Mybook and Sabre external enclosure with HEOS but it worked fine in Bluesound. Network stability with disappearing/disconnecting devices randomly on my Orbi network. This was fixed after I switched Orbi to AP mode, and allocating specific channel to 2.4GHz network. This may all be due to Orbi instead of HEOS, but when I had SONOS, I didn't have this issue. HEOS should have option to set only connect to 5GHz network and not 2.4 GHz, which I believe should technically fixed the issue. Another and perhaps major minus point is HEOS/Denon customer service is not helpful. It takes forever to get any reply when submitting issue through HEOS app and most of the replies are useless i.e. asking for more information and wait another days. For instance, SONOS or Bluesound has official forum where users can post question and reply, and also official support person checking the forum regularly. HEOS only has FAQ page, but they are just not helpful. If I weren't into techs and know how to search online extensively and try various different things, I would have ended up returning HEOS devices as one can image, I would have concluded USB drive not functioning, Network drop outs is to blame on HEOS, and lack of number of stream service etc. Denon should create official forum or make customer service better, but I believe latter is difficult to find number of highly qualified people to do that type of job.

The sound quality is top notch, and for the size of the speaker, the bass is outstanding!

The HEOS 5 speaker has surprising bass and is sonically pleasing. That said, The Heos application is problimatical. I cannot play my music on an SD card in my Fire Tablet. I fear that this may be intentionally done by Demon to steer users to online subscriptions. My work around was to put music on a flac drive and insert it in the usb slot in the back of the speaker. Bluetooth will work, but I use Bluetooth with my smart phone and Bluetooth headphones. Switching between the heo s 5 and the headphones is not worth the effort.

I have a Denon AVR-2400H receiver, HEOS 5, and HEOS 1. The HEOS app is wonderful and easy to use. Most important is the sound.

The quality of sound is very impressive! This one speaker can fill my house with quality and full range sound! The lack of usability with google music is a big weakness. I find Spotify, pandora, and the other media sources available through HEOS to fall short of google music. I find it surprising this high-end product lacks the basic usability of cheaper Bluetooth speakers. As an example, I should be able to send any audio from my phone to the speaker (YouTube videos, instagram, etc

This speaker has a deep rich sound that completely fills a room with sound. It brings the boom of both highs and lows. I've used my Marantz receiver to stream music and DirecTV to other rooms. It's a staple for streaming music from phones in the gym or outside on the deck.

The HEOS5V2 sounds OUTSTANDING! Better that the (better looking) Sonos or Bose. I have had a bunch of HEOS over the years. It's been a l-o-n-g process for them to work out the kinks. Early on, pathetic. In 2018, it's stable. At this point, any problems you read about are network related. If your network is poor, then you will ALSO have hiccups with any products from Bose, Sonos, etc. For our 2nd home, we bought the HEOS Drive, two HEOS5V2's, and the embedded HEOS in Link in the newer Denon receivers. It works FLAWLESSLY. My highest recommendation. The HEOSV1 (Version 1) had WiFi glitches. The V2 doesn't. The HEOS 7 is more of the same as compared to the HEOS5V2. You pick up a few more Hz on the bottom end. Possibly worth it for big rooms OR if you need/want those extra few Hz. The HEOS3 is on an island and I would not buy one. So go with the HEOS1V2 if you need small or the HEOS 5V2. Skip the HEOS3V2.

I purchased 2 bowers & wilkins cm9 s2 tower speakers a while ago. I decided to upgrade my receiver and purchased the denon avr x4300 receiver thinking I could use the HEOS 7 speakers with the B&W tower speakers. I first purchased the HEOS 5 speakers to test out this arrangement. I've had a couple of problems. Most of my music is on my Mac desktop running iTunes on a large drive. I group the 2 HEOS 5 speakers with the B&W's. As soon as I try to play music using Airplay through the x4300 the HEOS 5 speakers pull out of the group and I"m left with 2 speakers. The other problem seems to be latency and volume level of the HEOS 5 speakers when I play music from Pandora or Tidal. I haven't worked on this problem in a couple of weeks. But my thoughts now is to use the 2 HEOS 5 speakers in my office and forget about purchasing the HEOS 7's. I plan to research switching to Sonos and purchase their Connect to wire to my Denon x4300. Another problem with my HEOS and Denon x4300 is I was told by Denon tech support mixing the wired speakers with HEOS speakers won't work for surround sound. I was quite surprised at this but I haven't started building the surround sound setup yet. I'm not quite sure about the advice I am getting with Denon support. Another reason for me to research Sonos.

For somone used to the older, stereo systems with multiple components, I was a little apprehensive to make the purchase. I am so glad that I did. All the sound that the historical systems produced while a much smaller size. Loving it!! Purchased the EOS1 also and works great out on the patio.

The download software by D & M Holdings crashes Constantly. Using software on my I-Pad and never know if it will control the speaker or not. Have attempted to update software with no improvement. Have owned this Heos 5 for several years and have been unhappy more often than happy because of the poor software.

Love the sound. Surprising amount of bass. But, it drops out while playing from My media server, but the Denon avr doesn't. Kinda irritating to have the sound stop multiple times per song.

the sound is great and the feature to adjust bass and treble from the app is also useful. It has a nice carve-out handle for easy carrying the unit. The Heos app is also fairly user friendly. What's not user friendly are the instructions. They need a lot of work. My unit just stopped connecting and the instructions were worthless. Fortunately it occured during tech support hours and the person was helpful.

I looked at many wireless speakers and eventually selected this one. I'm glad I did - it may not have the marketing hoopla of Sonos but for my purposes it's much better.

Wonderful sound, beautiful speaker

I love the HEOS 5! The sound travels wonderfully throughout my apartment -- in the living room, you can still hear the music clearly and booming from down the hall. The sound is strong, clear, and the base is tight but not distorted. It makes for fun listening! The setup was super easy and I like how quickly I can move it from the living area to other rooms, if necessary, and back. Regarding the app, I wish it were a little more user-friendly; it took a lot of updates at first and can be a li...

As a bit of background, I not only love music but am a classically trained musician (double bassist. I've even built my own speakers for my basement theatre. This HEOS 5 is mighty impressive! Experienced a JBL Charge previously and this makes the JBL sound like a toy. The combination of on-board amplification plus the number of drivers is brought together with some manner of psychoacoustic technology. Whatever it is, I fully endorse it. The HEOS app has performed flawlessly too and is an ea...
