The Good: I bought two and I love the sound and highly recommend the HEOS 7. I have a Marantz AV 7705 Preprocessor which is HEOS enabled, so the purchase made sense for my whole house wireless audio project. The Bad: For the initial Wifi connection don't try the bluetooth easy setup or the headphone cable to the Aux input methods. I think the Bluetooth and AUX cable methods didn't work because the units were way way behind on software updates. For Hassle Free Network Setup: First, Connect a Ethernet cable from your router to the HEOS 7. My two units took 6-8 hours each to update. Really!! Each one had about 6 or 7 updates to perform. Anyway, I suggest you reboot the HEOS 7 after each update. My experience is that it doesn't always reconnect to the network after each update. By the way, During the updates the HEOS system is offline. Second, once the updates are done you can go into the HEOS app settings and put the unit on your wifi.

The speaker sounds great, but the fact that I have to go into the app to switch between sources is just ridiculous. A basic option to switch between the last wifi source and the line-in would be so useful. An optical input would be great too.

¨This was my first HEOS speaker (no. 7 HS2). I placed it on a shelf 10 cm from the concrete wall with half a meter space to the left, right, and above. It fills the room surprisingly well. With one word, it's AMAZING. It doesn't matter where in the room I stand or even if I lay down. Bass is convincingly strong and very much to my taste. I understand that others may find it too rich and will need to set it in the app. After this speaker, I decided that HEOS system is the right one for me. It comes cheap compared to other solutions on the market. My HEOS 7 cost 500€ in EU and you only need for the whole room. I purchased a pair of HEOS 1 which do not sound so well. I purchased an AVR to connect my existing speakers to the HEOS system. I am able to listen to any mp3 on my computer (cast to option in windows 10) and also any sound on my phone but this is limited to a Bluetooth connection with any HEOS device. This can be a bit troublesome especially if you move too far away from the speaker you're connected to. In such cases, the Bluetooth connection is lost and the sound as well. I wish I could use WiFi connection instead of Bluetooth connection to listen to any sound from my phone in all selected rooms. Sadly this is not the case. It appears to be a software issue and I've read numerous reviews how customers are not satisfied with the HEOS app. I agree with them. Sometimes there are updates during the night and in the morning there's just no sound. It takes you quite some time to get things back in order and it's frustrating. Without the app, this speaker would face a much larger competition in its price range. One other remark, this speaker covered in textile is always covered in dust and it seems impossible to thoroughly clean it.

For a living room it provides enough sound stage for serious listening. It is great for house parties as well. App is very easy to use and stable.

I bought this to expand the three zones of my SR7011 to four. Works like a dream and sounds fantastic. I wish the app worked with Google music service and there was a cover for it as I like to use it on my front porch.

I have two Heos 5 speakers and decided to purchase the "big boy". I have the Heos 7 at one end of the room and the two Heos 5 sat the other end. All were easy to setup and pair, and although I was expecting great sound, they are even better!

This is a great all purpose speaker as it sounds great at both high or low levels. Nice rich bass with solid midrange and nicely audible high range.Denon did a great job on this one. The only issue I have is the app needs work as it will often not load on my iPhone 7 Plus unless I reboot the phone first

Firstly, what great sound... their is control and depth, soundstage and fluidity that I have not heard in a single speaker for a long time... it's rich and warm. Bass can be overbearing if positioned in a dead spot. BUT.... I have a Denon AVR too - AVR-X6300h, so thought great I can pair it with that and play sound where I want it... Hence the range topping HEOS7. Well unfortunately that didn't go as planned for the following reasons: 1) The HEOS app doesn't play all the music I've accumulated in ITunes on my device... 40 - 50% of the tracks are greyed out due to Apple Music DRM... Not specifically a HEOS issue, but what's the point if I can't play it.. Funnily, I can play tracks on the AMP via AIRPLAY, but that can't send said tracks to the HEOS speaker. 2) TV Grouping doesn't work almost at all.. If you play a TV channel it's fine. The minute you switch a smart TV function on - like you tube, or Netflix, it all falls apart... Doesn't work at all. TV is connected through ARC HDMI to AMP So the result.. I returned the product.. not becuase I didn't like it, but becuase there are too many finickity issues to deal with.. i just want something that works seamlessly!

I bought 3 device's but unable to connect the sub. I have tried many times using WiFi and erhernet but no success. So frustrating after so many emails to tech support. It just doesn't work.

We were looking for something to replace our Bose Wave, something with bluetooth to connect to our phones. We tried the Heos system. I'm not a fan of all the internet based services that are being promoted. I like to play the music I have in my library. This Heos system does not simply allow you to play your own music. It's overly complex to just play your music. You have to go through the app, which is very glitchy, then you have to add music to the queue before you can play it. Too many steps for me. And no FM radio option! The sound quality was second to none, I enjoyed the fullness and bass the speaker provides. After a few weeks, we returned it and kept our Bose and bought there bluetooth adapter.

I love the speaker sound quality. It has a hearty, full sound. It easily fills a large room. I have HEOS throughout the house. 1 - Cinema Soundbar, 1 - HEOS 3, 1 - HEOS 5, 2 - HEOS 7. Great sound! The HEOS app is another story. It crashes, hides speakers, doesn’t allow rooms to group, won’t keep up with the actual song playing (pandora), the list goes on. I called customer service at 6PM central time on Friday 3-2. They are supposedly open until 1000PM, received voice mail that the office was closed. Had an event at my house and couldn’t group all speakers - very embarrassing. I read other reviews before buying, but thought I could overcome the “tech” challenges. Don’t do it until the app is fixed! Again - awesome speaker sound. Horrible app and no support from customer service.

The HEOS speaker provides fine sound quality for the small/medium size room it is in. I purchased on sale at $299.00 and think that is a better price point for the product. The application functionality and connectivity is not good. HEOS really needs to take steps to improve this aspect of the product. However, that is software and from a hardware perspective it works well as an additional component to my receiver.

I bought three of these for my martial arts studio and absolutely love the sound. Far better than anything comparable and the 7 fills large spaces with amazing sound. I love being able to link them or keep them separate, and the versatility of what the app offers is super handy. The problem is that the app is difficult to work with. Pairing could be more streamlined and especially lately, constant updates appear to cause connectivity issues at random. I'm not sure if it's a device compatibility or not but my three iPads all suddenly stopped connecting, and only my Droid tablet or iPhone seems to work. Until now, the entire studio ran on ipads so this was frustrating. Without a doubt, when these things work, the sound quality stuns everyone who sees/hears them.

A solidly constructed, quality speaker. Like a lot of speakers on the market, it is low base and vocals forward, but pleasant sound. This is fine at med. and higher volumes, but less pleasant at v low volumes. It was not reliable when setup as Bluetooth. However, went setup PROPERLY on wi-if is is reliable. Very easy to control with ones phone/tablet. Visually appealing. A $600 price point is a stretch, but on sale it’s a fair cost/value proposition.

I almost bought a sonos system, then I heard these. They blow away the sonos speakers. I purchased two of these and have them in a different room then my Marantz receiver and they fill the house with sound. It is really easy to set up, pair to iphone, iPad, mac book, iMac and receiver. When I want sound outside or in the garage, it is easy to unplug, move and plug back in. They synch back up in less than 30 seconds and are ready to go, alone or the pair. Once initial setup is done, they will play anywhere the wifi goes, even with an extender. Truly amazing, great purchase

I was back and forth between Sonos and Heos 7. Decided on the Heos 7 when I saw it on sale for $399. Turns out this is product is much better than I anticipated. A very substantial sound at a great price point. Treat yourself you won't be sorry.
