This is a big laptop. It is heavier than I expected. It's fast with 16 GB of RAM. It does give off a lot of heat, so it isn't really comfortable to sit with it on your lap.

Plenty of speed, great legacy mode support for old software in Windows 10. Really nice screen, some glare issues with sunlight. A little quirky when using mouse and touchscreen combined, but nothing you don't get used to over time. Very, very happy with this purchase.

This laptop was an upgrade to an almost six-year old HP laptop. My folks needed a general use laptop primarily used for web access. The screen is quite large at 17" and the configuration was more than enough for Windows 10. The Win 10 HP edition installed was more than enough for what they needed and there was not a whole lot of bloatware other than a McAfee & Office trials, which are easily uninstalled. The quality of the laptop is very good and the chicklet keyboard is sufficient and the 17" model comes with a full number pad. Especially for the price that I was able to get it for with the laptop trade up, is less money than I paid for an iPad and gets you a lot of laptop. The only thing missing is a dedicated GPU to play games, but it would have cost more. Overall a great buy for the price!

Designed for the real world - because that's where life happens
Dell wants you to love your new PC for years to come. That's why they test Inspiron laptops for reliability not just in the places where you expect it, but for the open road ahead.
Turn up the heat
From locker rooms to locked cars, Dell tests Inspiron laptops for survival in harsh short-term heat conditions of up to 651C/1491F.
Everything hinges on it
We test Inspiron laptop hinges to ensure they still feel tight, even after opening and closing the lid 20,000 times.
Keys to success
Dell tests commonly used keys for 10 million keystrokes and touch pad buttons 1 million times with no failure. So go ahead, finish your novel.
Buttoned up
No matter what you set your power and multimedia buttons to do, Dell has tested them all to survive up to 40,000 pushes.
Twist and turn
Call them excessive, but after twisting an Inspiron laptop's base and lid more than 25,000 times, Dell assures you the parts inside are well protected.
Always a good fit
You'll probably never need to remove and reinstall your Inspiron's battery 750 times, but you can rest easy knowing they have tested that as well.
