I settled for a Dell

I had my heart set on another ASUS. The one I picked out died after 2 days. So Dell had the things I wanted and were the most important to me. I hate the fingerprint reader. The usb 3 c doesn't work. I hate Win Home and there were only 4 pc within my budget that had Pro and this was one of them. I read the very favorable reviews for the Dell Inspiron series and decided to give Dell a chance. Gotta get rid of hat bloat ware! The SupportAssist is really nice. Setup has been easy. Lots of updates to get. Love the backlit keyboard!! And the left/right click for the mouse pad if super easy to use. So far so good.

Great Choice!

This is a great computer. I love the 17 inch screen. I have to split my screen so I can have 2 things up at one time and the 17 inch screen allows me to do this. I use to have to use another monitor to do the same thing. The only thing I wish was different was the amount of memory. It comes with 8GB but you can buy an extra memory stick but it has to be installed after you get the computer. That is why I gave this 4 stars instead of 5. I wish this computer would have came with 16GB of memory.

OK laptop

This laptop has been OK for my needs. The only complaint is that it does not keep up with my internet speed. Testing with this laptop did not deliver the same download speed as my old windows 7 desktop.

Inspiron 17 - 5770

I bought the Inspiron 5770 w/Win 10 Pro & 16 Gb memory to replace a Dell Vostro running Win 7 Pro with 4 Gig memory. The 5770 screen resolution is great and I really like the keyboard. My main complaint is the performance. It has 16 Gig memory but the performance is really no better than the Vostro. I only use it for ofice activities, like word, excel, email, accounting, etc. Boot time is long and opening apps is slow. Tried everything I can think of for better performance but nothing was worked.

No good from the start

I bought this laptop as a gift, the first time we powered it up it took over 5 hours to do all of the updates that it needed. Even after that it always ran very slow, even thought the only program installed was Quicken. It was mostly used for web based email and streaming. Which was unbearable on this machine. The the battery seemed to be loosing a charge very quickly. At it's best it would hold a charge for no longer then 1.5 hours. Then the battery finally gave up and has a fatal error. It can only be used plugged in and that is after getting through the error screens. I reached out to Dell and a ticket was opened for me to send it in but I never received the shipping instructions. I reached out 4 more times and no response. Then my warranty expired just before the ticket expired they called and left a bad number so when i tried to call back I could not get a hold of any one. Then the ticket expired I never heard anything back. So now I have a 10 lb paperweight.

Personal Customization

I want to change icon size, but only have a few options. Medium is too small and large is too big. I would like to change that. Also, custom backgrounds are boring. Need some better fun choices. It would be nice if the key board stayed lighted while typing, not just for a few minutes.

our new i7 8th Gen Laptop

wide screen, very fast, easy to install, has both the traditional high volume hard drive and a quick solid state drive which functions much like a flash drive. great to use the solid state drives for installing applications and your own current work files and the hard drive for heaps of pics, music, and archived. the numeric keypad always helps with number entries.

Nice laptop

I like the size and speed of this laptop. Keyboard is backlit and that is nice. Would be nice if there was a num lock indicator. Computer came preloaded with programs I don't want, took up a lot of hard drive space.

Set up was so easy

Quite honestly, I was dreading setting up my new laptop. My previous experiences in prior years had left me with email that wouldn't set up and a ton of frustration. But I set up both my home email and my work email without any trouble. Everything was seamless. And booting up my computer is a pleasure. No long delays while the operating system loads.

Will not print in color

While the computer in itself is good and id fast to load web pages, it seems that there might be a program problem as I can not print anything in color. Even when I set the print to color it goes back to monochrome. Everything I tried does not fix the problem, I tried printing with chrome no help, even redownloaded the print program from HP this did not fix the problem. My printer is an HP Officejet 3830 all in one printer.

Passwords

I am having a very hard time with the passwords. When I use a program, you have to enter a password. I write down the information requested. The password doesn't work the next time I try to get into the program. I was trying to get into Last Pass. When I set up the program I had to enter a hint. I entered the uppercase letter, maiden name, full birth date. The password didn't work. There are too many passwords

Needs Improvment

I like the computer its nice, responsive, and seems to run well. However I'm not a computer wiz but I don't believe the issues I've been having are normal. I had an issue with the computer not being able to read or detect the HDD. it froze and wouldn't respond. so I googled a few things and found the error code and I believe I resolved the issue. but I have an issue with the mail not opening now, as well as setting the lock screen pin and fingerprint it gave me another error code and said restart the computer I went to the settings to reset it but it said it couldn't find it I believe. I would appreciate any tips or info on where I should take it to be looked at. I bought the computer for school and am worried issues may arise when I need it most.

This is my first Dell laptop-so far no problems at all. it's fast easy to use. The only complaint I have is the keyboard is laid out differently and so I am still getting used to it. not sure why Dell would change something that all other computers have....

My new Inspiron 5770 Experience

I have been enjoying the new laptap and the ease of use. The only downside I have experienced is the battery runs out way to quickly. I am constantly having to plug it in. I don't know if this is common to the product or if my battery just wasn't as new as it should have been when installed. It has been a couple of weeks now since it's arrival and so far this the only thing I have found wrong with the design. I am a student and have found it quite effective for my school needs.

Super Duper . . And I must say IT'S REALLY FAST !

By Jason

I really do like my new 'Super Duper" :-)) new Dell laptop. This is the most advanced system I have ever owned. It has a super fast boot-up due to the 250 GB SSD (solid-state drive) PLUS everything else is all speeded up as well since my additional software -- i.e. MS-OFFICE SUITE and IOBit's Advanced System-Care Ultimate and my new Corel Video Studio project software and everything in the future -- are all installed on the Drive C (SSD) partition. Then, add the included 2 TB Hard Drive, a...

very good

By Amy

I updated from XPS13. The screen was too small for me. I use laptop for my daily programing work. This Inspiron 5770 is awesome for me. I am very satisfied with the screen size and the keyboard is very comfortable as well. Worth to make a change.
