Good, compact speakers

Best features are that it is powered by the usb port, and that it takes up no desk space. Sound quality is reasonable for a unit this small.

No mount option

I got a SE2719H IPS monitor and this speaker. There is no mounting option and no universal mount and no other way to attach it. Dell offers zero solutions.

it is bad soundbar! It has static noise!

I just bought this ac511 Rev 6 speakers yesterday and immediately found constant noise in the speakers. The volume level does not affect the noise. Connected to different USB ports on 4 different computers - all the same - there is the constant noise in the speakers! The DELL technical support pretended that he did not know about these problems with the speakers. The Dell service can not guarantee that the replacement Ac511 Soundbar issued by the service center works without noise. Other speakers from another manufacturer work fine and do not make noise. I do not recommend buying these AC511 speakers!

Works Great!

Using on a Dell E2414H monitor. The knobs on the speaker bar fit right into the slots on the monitor making the bar look like it is part of the monitor. The USB cable is plenty long to reach down to the my desktop box sitting on the floor. Sound is great for what I need it for - editing family videos. Overall, great fit, great sound, and no messy wires and speakers taking up space on my desk.

Do Not Buy For Multi Monitor Environment

Bought these for the Work From Home desk. Running Dell 7000 laptop, Dell 1000 dock, 2x E2318HX Monitors & 2x Dell AC511 Soundbars w/ USBs connected to the Dell 1000 dock. Both AC511 work, both sound great BUT … they do not work together. You get sound from Left - OR - Right. I tried using an AUX cable from one of the AC511 to the speaker/headphone plug on the laptop; I tried to use a cable to “daisy chain” from one AC511 to the other; I tried using a dual USB splitter to AUX plug directly & nothing worked. This is an entire Dell system, all devices are recognized & both speakers work, just not at the same time.

Does not work with the new P-series monitors - P2319H

Description says it works with all new P-series monitors, but found that it does not work with the new P2319H monitors. I have several to send back now.

Great for the Price.

I bought this speaker on a tight budget just to get some sound and to keep the desk space clear. It works quite nice and give decent sound for its size. Of course if your an audiophile you'll want to move on and spend more money on speakers. One interesting thing to note the Sound-Bar does not connect to your sound card already on your computer, but connects via USB, and provides yet another sound output device.

Static white noise, looks like it's not a individual problem.

Just get my AC511 for hours, found that as long as the USB is connected, there is a white noise from both speakers, like a computer fan is working inside. A speaker with such quite noticeable noise, I'd say it's a defect and should not sell on the market.

Excellent Speaker - Poor for Headphones

I bought for three purposes - (a) speaker, (b) a 3.5mm headphone jack, and (c) sleek integration. (a) audio - 5/5 - great performance for low cost. Speaker is compatible with the Spacial Sound audio drivers found in Windows 10. It could be due to the acoustics of my office, however, the sound is better than I was expecting. (b) 3.5mm Jack - 1/5 - The headphone connections are dated and are NOT compatible with 3-in-1 "TRRS" audio/microphone plugs (visually identifiable by the 3 rubber rings on the metal) like the jack for my Bose QuietComfort 25 headphones. Rather, this is designed for two plugs, one for audio & one for microphone. ~SOLUTIONS~ (1) buy an adapter (I'm still looking for one that works); or (2) if you already purchased or don't mind the hassle, the middle button on most audio/microphone combos (usually play/pause or accept calls) can be held down with a paperclip. It's a sloppy solution but effective until I locate the proper adapter. (c) sleek integration - 4/5 - This would have received full marks had it not been for the paperclip solution. The speaker connects under the monitor (check the compatibility!) and plugs into a USB port on the Tower. This item does not take up any additional desk space.

Average

Not good, not bad. The price is appealing as is the minimal form factor, and the speaker can run off the monitor’s USB ports so you can make a very clean setup, however the sound leaves a lot to be desired. I use mine on a wall mounted monitor above a fold out desk, so this works great for me and was well worth it for the price, but I’d look for other options if cables and speakers on a desk aren’t a concern.

Great c/b ratio

I just needed a decent speaker for one of our computers. I didn’t want to spend more than $50. This speaker came in handy, and the quality of sound wowed me. Great cost/benefit.

Easier than speakers and better sound

I was never satisfied with the speakers available for laptops. They just never worked or sounded like they should have. This sound bar is great! The bar will also be easier to transport and setup when I take it on trips.

Just got this and love it

No problems with Windows 10 compatibility. Worked as soon as I plugged in the USB. Sound is warm, full, and focused. I am an audiophile and appreciate good sound and these get the job done for web conferencing and music. Thay are a major improvement from the old satellite speakers I had on my desk, and for a very reasonable price!

Configurations

I have just received the SoundBar. As many of you, I expected to drive it connecting the monitor via DP/HDMI. It does not work that way, since SoundBar can be fed only by analogue audio as opposed to DP/HDMI. - It only works, if the USB connection between Computer and monitor is also present. - SoundBar can be connected directly to the compute via its USB, and MAC immediately recognize as "DELL AC511 USB SoundBar" - SoundBar also works via audio connection (jack) and its USB serves only as power supply, BUT ! It does not work when the audio out (jack) of the DELL monitor is used and the USB of Soundbar is also plugged into the monitor. In this case USB override jack connection. I do not bother with the sound quality, do not expect too much, but it will do. I think DELL should resolve this issue, i.e., let me decide to use USB connection or monitor's jack as audio source, and need to be more specific in the product description.

It doesn't work

Although the website says it works with the P2415Q, it does not. It says it has a Aux-in port, but it is just for show. Does not work at all. The simplest thing, doesn't work. On the website says that you need only to plug in the usb and listen. It is not quite like that. A computer is required to make this works, if you don't have a computer to power the AC511 through ANOTHER usbxusb conection with the monitor, this sound bar will not work. Thank you.

Great sound in a convenient package

The sound doesn't rival dedicated speakers but if you want convenience of no desktop clutter - these speakers paired with a Dell monitor certainly deliver much better sound than your laptop speakers of the speakers built into monitors that include them.

Old technology and not compatible with many USB ports and especially Windows 10. DO NOT BUY!

Do not purchase this if you are running Windows 10. It is not at all compatible. Needs higher current than most USB hubs. Don't plug it into your monitor! Dell support does not have a clue, at least the 6 DELL techs I spoke with!!! Maybe you can find one...

Just So-so Sound

Don’t expect much in the way of sound from this little soundbar. It’s attractive and neat but the sound is nothing to write home about. It’s nothing to despise, either—it’s just that it’s barely minimal. If you just need sound (and any computer does then this soundbar does that OK. However, when it’s plugged into a USB port on your computer, it disables any sound from the stereo line out port. But, overall, what can you expect for the price?

OK for the money

I like how slim this speaker is and how it clips solidly to the bottom of my monitor. However, I do have a couple gripes: 1. Volume control is very poor on this unit - even at the lowest setting it is too loud. 2. Speaker could use more richness and bass - I wouldn't have minded if the speaker were twice the size to provide better sound quality. Otherwise, it's a basic speaker bar for the monitor, decently constructed, simple to install. It's a good product but could have been great if the volume and sound quality issues were addressed.

Perfectly compatable

Purchased this because the Dell P2715Q monitor does not have any built in speakers. These were the perfect solution for the price.

Please don't buy!

As the saying goes, you really do get what you pay for. While this sound bar's price may seem appealing, resist the temptation to buy it. The unit, which can't be turned off, emits an audible and annoying hum that never stops. I finally couldn't take it and disconnected the unit, which now sits in a box in my closet. By the way, the speakers I then bought elsewhere work fine with no annoying hum.

Not Recognized by Windows after sleeping

After the computer wakes up from sleep mode it sometimes does not recognize the device and you have no sound. Used on a U2715H monitor. Also you don't have full analog volume control so you cannot finally adjust the level at very low volumes - it just turns off completely. The older sound bar using the traditional RCA connector AX510 works much better.
