Review Summary
Matrice 600
The Matrice 600 (M600) is DJI's new flying platform designed for professional aerial photography and industrial applications. It is built to closely integrate with a host of powerful DJI technologies, including the A3 flight controller, Lightbridge 2 transmission system, Intelligent Batteries and Battery Management system, for maximum performance and quick setup.
Total Integration
The modular design makes the M600 easy to set up and ready to use in just minutes. Its dust proof propulsion systems simplify maintenance while actively cooled motors make for reliable operation during extended periods of time. All Zenmuse cameras and gimbals are natively compatible and a maximum payload of 6 kg allows it to fly the Ronin-MX gimbal and a range of cameras from Micro Four Thirds systems to the RED Epic.
Smart Flight Safety
The M600 uses sine-wave driven, intelligent ESCs to ensure it performs accurately, safely and efficiently while A3's self-adaptive flight systems adjust flight parameters automatically based on different payloads. The A3 can be upgraded with two additional GNSS and IMU units to A3 Pro or with D-RTK GNSS for enhanced accuracy.
A3 Pro
With triple modular redundancy and diagnostic algorithms that compare sensor data from the three sets of units in real-time, the A3 Pro ensures that the M600 flies exactly as expected.
D-RTK GNSS
The A3 GNSS system can be upgraded with centimeter-level accuracy. Using dual antennas, its heading reference is more accurate than a compass sensor and it is able to withstand magnetic interference from metal structures.
Extended Flight Time And Transmission Range
The M600 features an extended flight time and a 5 km long-range, ultra-low latency HD image transmission for accurate image composition and capture. By using 6 small DJI Intelligent Batteries, allowing it to easily be shipped to wherever it is needed. A customized battery management system and power distribution board allows all six batteries to be turned on with one button press and keeps the system in flight in the event of a failure of a single battery and allows users to check the battery status in real-time during flight.
Professional Hd Transmission
DJI Lightbridge 2 has been designed from the ground up to meet the requirements of professional broadcasting, offering high frame rates and HD live streaming. USB, mini-HDMI and 3G-SDI ports support video output at up to 1080p/60fps or a broadcast standard output of 720p/59.94fps and 1080i/50fps.
Powerful App Control
The M600 supports the DJI GO app and the brand new DJI Assistant 2. Get a live HD view, battery status, redundancy status, transmission strength and much more, straight from the DJI GO app. DJI GO is also the control center for the camera, giving access to shutter speed, ISO, photo or video capture on any Zenmuse X series camera and remote focus and aperture on the Zenmuse X5 and X5R cameras. The brand new DJI Assistant 2 supports firmware updates and the new Ground Station and comes with a built-in flight simulator.
Open To Development
The M600 is fully compatible with the DJI Onboard SDK and Mobile SDK to meet the requirements of those building software for industrial applications. It has a dual parallel CAN and API ports for connecting DJI devices including the Guidance sensor system, the D-RTK GNSS units or third party components of your choice.
DJI Ronin MX
Engineered For Professionals
Cinematic film making demands rapid setup and a host of camera configurations. The Ronin-MX has been designed to carry many of the cameras used every day on sets worldwide and SmoothTrack algorithms ensure movements are smooth in every configuration. A repositioned battery improves balance while stability is enhanced by a camera cage that locks mounted cameras in place at the top and at the bottom. Silent motors prevent on set mics picking up motor noise.
Powerful And Accurate
Designed to resist high G-forces using powerful motors and IMUs, the Ronin-MX is engineered to maintain stability and hold horizon when mounted to an aircraft or a vehicle. When mounted to the M600 aerial system, it communicates directly with DJI's flight controller and when attached to vehicles, it connects to an optional GPS module allowing it to stabilize actively for a smoother shot.
Freedom To Move
A slip ring allows the Ronin-MX to rotate 360deg. continuously when mounted to aircraft or vehicles, opening up more creative options. This is further enhanced by an increase in tilt axis range from 90deg. straight down and beyond to 135deg. Popular features of the Ronin series such as the three modes of operation and SmoothTrack are also present, giving film makers a range of creative angles and movements.
Wireless Control And Transmission
The Ronin-MX is compatible with Lightbridge 2, providing long-range HD video transmission from the air to the ground from up to 3.1miles (5km) away. If combined with the optional DJI Focus and Focus Expansion Module, focus or aperture can also be pulled remotely with a twist of the wrist. An optional Remote Start/Stop add-on provides the ability to control shooting on a range of airborne cameras.
Comprehensive App Control
Using DJI Assistant and the dedicated Assistant app for iOS and Android allows complete customization of the Ronin-MX and its behavior. If connected to Lightbridge 2, the DJI GO app can be used to control how the M600 flies including Intelligent Flight Modes, remote control modes, move the gimbal and see an HD live feed from the camera.
Refined Balance
Magnesium Construction
Strengthened Motors And Escs
External Camera Battery
Intelligent Batteries
Remote Focus Control
Precision Solo Camera Control
2nd Operator Control
Fast, Precise Balancing
Cinematic Smoothness
Flexible Modes Of Operation
Built-in Power Distribution
A dedicated power distribution box keeps wiring to a minimum while providing power to essential accessories . Two regulated 12V P-taps, one 500mAh full-size USB connector and a DJI Lightbridge connector enable connectivity and power to everything a film maker needs.
Universal Mounting
Mount the Ronin-MX to aircraft easily using a specially designed mounting plate. A separate universal Quick Release system that doubles as a vibration dampening system allows the Ronin-MX to be connected to everything from jib to tripod and anything in between. This plate isolates the Ronin-MX from unwanted vibrations coming from the platforms it is mounted to and makes it usable everywhere.
Short Range Wireless Transmission
On the ground, the SRW-60G allows film makers to see the image from the camera without running cables up the Ronin-MX. In the air, it sends the camera's feed from the camera direct to Lightbridge 2 allowing it to stream this image down to the pilot and cinematographer.
Hasselblad A5D
With its image sensor specially selected to provide the flatness required for applications such as advanced mapping, the new A5D is the ideal camera for aerial photography. The A5D also features positive locking of both the digital capture unit and lens. This solution is designed to prevent any unintentional movement that may occur due to aircraft vibration and to ensure that camera calibration remains unchanged.
The digital capture unit's single locking screw and reinforced bottom support completely eliminate play and movement during flight. The camera also features special firmware that activates the camera, closes the shutter and aperture when power is supplied . Power can be supplied to the camera via a LEMO connector which requires 12-30 VDC.
The camera image capture interface is via 1394B FireWire 800 or straight to CF card. Special mapping solutions may also want to take advantage of the LEMO connector for synchronized triggering or connection to a flight management system.
The Hasselblad software library, which can be supplied with the A5D, enables image tagging with metadata, including the full set of exposure settings, in-lens temperature and GPS coordinates.
The A5D can also serve as a flexible camera component for mapping systems using multiple camera units in clustered arrays that are used for delivery of unmatched detail and meets the highest professional standards for resolution and coverage. The removal of the viewfinder system and battery grip allows much closer mounting of camera units and thus a smaller pod. The A5D aerial camera supports synchronized exposures to within 20 Mus of simultaneous capture in a multiple camera set-up.
