I have high hopes for the Phantom, but so far the gimbal has been a big issue. It jerks back and forth, which doesn't allow me to get any video or photographs. I have sent it in twice for repair and adjustment, and it still has the same problem. I might have a lemon, but am willing to give them another chance as when it has worked the video and photos were nice. The machine is easy to fly and control; it is only the gimbal that is giving me grief.

As a long time R/C modeler, flew plenty of model airplanes. I do real estate photography and some luxury homes on the water or on hills that really need elevated shots to help the properties stand out and to show the great surroundings they offer. This machine is a good answer for aerial photography. It's a good compramise of price and quality. Don't really want to hang a DSLR on a drone and have $10k flying at "higher" risk ;-) Pros: Ease of flying Compact and quiet Complete package Camera shoots RAW and JPG Some adjustments to camera settings are possible in flight Does good videos Good quality images Cost Many users, so fairly easy to get info and help Cons: Doesn't do DSLR quality, but the main objective is to shoot aerials and the viewers are fine with the quality. Instructions could use improvement and DJI's site is being updated regularly from what I understand.

If you take the time to read the manual first, it's pretty easy to make a successful first flight. The camera is phenomenal- super sharp, very high resolution. But(and this is a very big but), don't try to fly when the wind comes up! Also, it goes up like a rocket. Really gteat fun.
