Questions & Answers

Raymond B : Does this reel work with APS (Advantix) Film?
STEVE W : Does this reel have large "lobes" to start the film on? The ones I own have a large lobe on each side that you lay the end of the film on and slide it into the tracks. Its about 3/4" wide and almost touch when it's in the 35mm position. I bought one that doesn't have these lobes and after a half hour of trying I gave up and used a metal reel.ERIC B : No large lobes. You start the film on the outside of the reel and ratchet the reel to feed the film in.
George B : Will these work with the AP tank and twist spindle? Thank you.

So easy to load!

These reels are so easy to load compared to Paterson reels. There are large tabs where the film can rest on as you twist. Even 120 film with the very curled end is easy to load!

Easy to use

Been using these reels for several years now. They work well for developing both 35mm and 120/220. No film sticking. Easy to load and unload. The only con is that they eventually lose the little metal balls that help the film slide into the holder, rendering the reel useless, but you’ll probably want to get some new reels at that point anyway.

Super easy loading.

Taking a bit of advice I purchased two of these. I had also purchased previously a tank which included two reels. Comparing the two types against each other, it was obvious that the tank units were inferior and would be difficult for a first timer. The choice was correct, my first time with these, and the improved loading ramps was an easy success. Just slide the film in on the non tapered side and ratchet away. I doubt that the other reels will ever be needed or used. Well, maybe the cat would like those as toys.

Great for 120 and 220 film!

I've been using Stainless Steel reels for more than 35 years and I've been reluctant to use "plastic"; was I wrong! These reels work superbly. No crimped film! They make "easy meat" out of loading medium format film especially 220!

a dark room essential!

I purchased this reel because the ones provided my school were pretty well worn-out and uncooperative. This reel just works! The film rolls up easy and goes on even easier. A must for any print work.
