Frank D : Does a safelight like this one replace a changing bag?SONDRA P : NO! film can not be exposed to ANY LIGHT OF ANY COLOR!!! continue using changing bag. this light is best for making prints from enlarger....KENNETH R : No. A safelight does not replace a changing bag. If you are dealing with film, it must be handled in complete darkness, with the exception of orthochromatic film which you are probably not asking about. A safelight like this is prinarily for use with black and white printing/enlarging paper.NORM S : No ... undeveloped film needs to be handled in complete darkness. This bulb is for working in the darkroom during the printing process.DAVID F : A safelight could - for paper only. But, normally changing bags are used in handling film, and that operation must be done in total darkness. Not much can be done with paper in a changing bag.
Shopper : is the red coating thin or thick?PAMELA R : It seems fairly thick in that there are no visible cracks or thin spots, but even with the apparently thick coating, when I had it aimed directly at my processor with high speed radiographic film, it would fog the film. When I turned it to bounce off a side wall it was fine. I hope that this helps.DAVID F : The coating was thick enough, but had pin holes, especially near the base.
