I bought this insert hoping it would hold my Canon 30d lens down. It turns out that it barely holds the camera body with no lens, wedged in sideways. I knew it might not work based on the dimensions, but I'd read elsewhere that people got it to work with similar cameras and I thought I'd try for the price. I was hoping it would help turn a Maxpedition Jumbo Versipack into a small camera bag. It didn't work out, but I can use it for other things. What really gets me is how poorly constructed this thing is. Fabric is very thin and single stitched. There is no padding on the bottom, just a thin piece of fabric. The fabric on the bottom panel is not hemmed in places and the fabric is fraying. The padding is firm packing foam type paneling. The padding is not sewn in at the bottom and it slides out easily. I don't expect this insert to last long.

This is a great little divider. I can just fit a D90 with 18-200mm VR attached (lens down). It is a little snug, but very easy to pull the camera out by the strap. I know some complain that the bottom is not padded, but this is not a problem if you use it in most Domke bags which have a padded bottom. Also, you can use a little bit of camping mattress foam (or whatever) to easily pad the bottom. I use this insert in a Domke F-3x, but also in any bag I put the camera in (ie backpack, etc). For me this is a lot better than most camera bags, more room for personal stuff, more discrete and less bulky. This is also great for traveling, as it folds flat (you can also reduce the bulk of your backpack while carrying your camera). This insert is mostly just for transport, once I get somewhere I have the camera over the shoulder and ready to shoot. The padding is also removable via slits in the bottom, which is nice if you don't need it. The padding is more than enough to protect photo gear.

I bought this to use inside a messenger bag for my Nikon D80, as I really didn't want to use an identifiable camera bag for travel, and because the messenger bag has the best pocket configuration for my needs. While the product was a great fit for my camera with a lens attached, its stitching is shoddy (it almost appears unfinished), the padding is very thin, and there is *NO* PADDING ON THE BOTTOM! I cut up an old camping mattress and am using that, but this item is *not* worth its purchase price. I was hoping to get a whole set of these, but I am so disappointed, that won't be happening.

I use this in my messenger bag since I don't like using a camera bag that looks like a camera bag.

Got this as an addition to the 4-compartment insert included with the F-2 bag. In my opinion this insert really makes the bag complete . I can squeeze down my 40D (no battery grip, EF-S 17-85 attached) vertically in it, making the camera sit tight and secure.
