Product build quality exceeds its price point. It is easy to set up and move between shots. Quite happy with my selection.

Great Tripod. It is sturdy and compact. only thing user has to be aware of automatic release function where camera can fall on quick release of top lock.

A very good budget option. My only wish is that it were just a bit heavier for added stability, but for the price point I think it's a great little tripod. A much better option then what I would have found at a big box store.

I purchase this tripod about 8 yrs ago and still using it. It is stable and light weight at the same time. I had tacking pictures of the moon during eclipse and looks excellent.

Mostly a good tripod, with decent amount of extension, level bubble, stable. But it has a flaw that hurts its performance to much to consider it more than average. The ball head moves after you set your position. It sags another couple of degrees after tightening, no matter how much you tighten it. So you never know exactly where your camera's going to be pointing. It's hard to compose your shot accurately that way.

I am extremely happy with this purchase. It holds my 7100 and a 55-200mm fairly well, with no worries.Wish it would of came with a bit better screw that tightens the ball head. But for the most part, i'm happy with it. Thanks again Adorama !

The tripod is strong (not plastic) and lite. Quick and easy to use.

The tripod is very stable. Have been using it for a week now and the results are very impressive. It is able to support my D800 with Nikon 70-200 f2.8 without any issues. Having the three position expansion is a big plus especially for those low wide angle shots.

I liked it, Pretty good except it's not so easy to turn the camera directions..would have loved the direction changing handler on it.But the light weight tripod is able to accommodate nikon d7200 with 16-300lends easily..Thank you

The tripod it's fine, for the price and for a beginner, if you open only the two first sections of the legs is sturdy enough to hold an average DSLR with a lens, now with the 3rd section I'm not so sure. The tripod feels like is made out of plastic, doesn't feel solid, weight it awesome, super light. I guess it's a good tripod to carry around if you don't want to carry your good tripod.

I've had one of these things for a few years. It comes out when I don't want to carry the big burly tripod. It works okay as long as: (a) one does not extend the lower leg section. This tripod, like any lightweight aluminum rig, vibrates very easily: wind, shutter release, heck... if one just gazes at the thing with hostile intent it will start to vibrate. Don't extend the lower leg and much of the problem is alleviated. (b) one does not use a heavy'ish camera and lens combo in portrait (as opposed to landscape) mode. There are two issues here. First, the quck-release plate mounting screw is very difficult to tighten down sufficiently (and then UN-tighten) to prevent gravitational creep in portrait orientation. If one is using a L-bracket for this purpose, there is no problem. Second, in the case of a heavy-ish camera and lens combo used in portrait orientation, the weight is sufficiently "off balance" to topple the tripod in less than perfect conditions. Again, with an L-bracket... no problem. Apart from those two issues, for ($), the thing is quite nice. I've used it to good effect with P&S, MFT, APS-C, and full-frame cameras. As one might expect, it works best with lighter camera rigs. But it can be used with heavier cameras if one is cautious about minimizing potential sources of vibration and about the potential for heavier rigs becoming "top heavy" and off balance. Would I buy it again? Dunno. I'd be willing to pay 3x the price of the Dolica to get something that is less subject to vibration with mid-to-heavy weight cameras (the primary limitation of the Dolica, IMO). But in this price range. It's a good option.

Adorama: ***Need to mention this tripod comes with a case*** (otherwise people will purchase a redundant tripod case and then return it to you!) I looked up this tripod based on Ken Rockwell's recommendation. In spite of some negative reviews here, I decided to take a risk and see how it handles and whether it holds up. I brought it as a travel tripod and took it overseas twice (in checked baggage) in the past 2 months, shooting about 200 (about half were 10-15 sec exposures) shots on my Nikon D7000 with medium AF-S 18-200mm lens (quick-release plate mounted on camera) as well as the heavier AF-D 70-200mm (quick-release plate mounted onto lens). It appeared sturdy enough for the camera and lenses I mentioned in calm outdoors condition (no wind). Not sure if it will hold up well for heavier lens/cameras and under high winds. The pros: Yes it comes with a ball head! A decent professional ball head costs at least twice as much used. The ball head gives it much better flexibility in composing shots than non-ball head tripods in the same price range. The telescopic legs have quick release locks, allowing the tripod to be deployed fairly quickly. 2 tiny bubble levelers (one on top of legs, other next to quick release) and a tiny compass are an added plus. The cons: Manufacturing quality is slightly sub-par compared to high end tripods like Manfrotto (which cost 4x), the aluminium legs do not slide as smoothly after a while. But the main concerns are: the knob tightening the ball head and the knob for the quick-release plate - twist them very tight (even though they may feel so flimsy they may break. Both knobs got loose and my camera began to move (and nearly fell during long exposures before I caught the camera a few times). Overall, a decent travel tripod, just use with care - tighten the knobs very frequently. It fits in the case snugly. I don't regret buying it. Note: The case has a non-removable strap which is fairly limited in length - you might not be able to strao it to your chest if you are heavy build.

A review on this site listing cons said you can't take ground level photos. You certainly can. Unscrew the hook, take off the rubber o-ring, pull the post out from above and flip it around and put the post back in the tube from the bottom. Tighten it. It puts your camera in the dirt if you want to.This tripod does everything a high end tripod does at a way better price, provided you don't use it as a hiking stick in the Rockies.

Bought this as a replacement for a cheap taurus 52" that I bought on the fly. Its worked great for the length of time that I've had it. I recently used during a road trip to Diamond Lake and got some of the best shots.

Several people have reported that this is an inferior product. I beg to differ. I have not found ANYTHING at this price that can match the versatlitiy and quality of this tripod. With a ball head, hook on bottom of center post to add weight for stability, light-weight, and even a case w/ shoulder strap, I am at a loss to explain why anyone would give this anything less than 5 stars!! One commenter claimed you cannot get the camera low enough. NONSENSE! You just remove the center post and re-insert it upside downm enabling you to get your camera as low as you need. Granted, you have to figure out HOW to do that, but it is pretty easy....you unscrew the bottom hook, pull off the rubber ring, loosen the collar lock and pull it out!

Despite some other reviews, this is NOT a cheap, easily broken wad of junk metal! I have been using this tripod fairly heavily since I purchased it in December 2011. It has been a faithful photo assistant, even when my 10 year old son sets it up! (10 year old boys are not exactly "gentle" with anything!!! But with limited mobility, I need his assistance with setting up some of my gear.) Instead, every time I remove it from the sweet included case (with a sweet little inside pocket to keep track of the mounting plate and the included adjusting allen wrench) I am shocked by how such a high quality product is sold at this price point! I own a Manfrotto tripod with a pan head that was three times the price, and has not been used since I received this one. Wait: one time I wanted to position my flash remotely from the camera so I used the pan head for the flash and this one for my camera. I shoot a mid-range Nikon with an 18-200 lens and this tripod easily supports the camera with grip and SB-800 flash. It's not the best set up, but the tripod handles the rig quite well. Overall, clearly I am a fan of this tripod. The only minor caveat with this item addresses the other reviews with broken parts; it should be handled with the same care as any other bit of your photography gear! Gorilla grips need not apply, but if you treat your tripod as a valuable piece of equipment and use reasonable care, this tripod will be along for many of your photo tripping adventures. If my ten year old hasn't broken it yet, it's a pretty solid bit of kit! Bottom line: If you have been eyeballing ball head tripods but don't have the cash for a "Big" name, this is an awesome tripod to try!

I ordered this based off Ken Rockwell's reccommendation. However, after I unpacked it, I started trying to set it up and the ball head broke. This is a hunk of junk.

Long story short, I ordered this pod on a pinch. I needed something until I could order the tripod that I really wanted. But, I alsmost got more than I bargained for. At 1st, this tripod worked as it should.. Had decent free range motion from the ballhead, had decent height, and stability, and worked well indoors for a couple of months. Then, one day as I was about to change the column height, I noticed that I could not twist the locking collar at all.. When I twisted as hard as I could, it moved just enough to loosen the column.. I noticed aluminum shavings just underneath the collar.. I am guessing it had cross threaded the last time I locked it down. Needless to say, I was now stuck with a central column that would not lock.. Sooo for the mean time I used a few strips of electrical tape to wrap around the column just above the collar, and forced the column down into the collar area. This froze the column in place at the height that I normally use. Cheap, but effective.. The next issue came as I was Outside shooting some landscapes.. It came time to move locations so I dismounted my camera, and folded up the pod.. At the next location I brought the pod out and began to extend the legs.. When *SNAP*, one of the locking levers for the smallest leg extension snapped off... I wasn't too happy. I called off the day.. When I arrived home, I gave each leg the electric tape treatment, and a zip tie for added resistance. I also Gorilla Glued ALL the locking Levers CLOSED with legs fully extended. This stand is now my indoor light stand for off shoe flash use.... I understand that there are some faulty units out there.. I am guessing I got one. The Ballhead is OK on this unit. It had decent motion, but is limited. No panning feature, and the locking plate is Iffy.. The locking levers on mine grew a bit loose over time. If using heavier gear, it will sag out some... It is a pain to set it on what you want your lens to point at due to this... Dolica would have a decent pod if they fix these issues.

This tripod is not too bad for the money. It's no Gitzo, but it's also not $600. It's all metal, even the head and quick release plate, it has lots of bells and whistles, is stable enough for any mirrorless camera or a DSLR such as a Nikon D5100 or Canon Rebel with all but professional f/2.8 lenses on it. It will even hold a Nikon D300s or a Canon 7D. It's way better than anything you will find at [@], etc. and probably cheaper. One thing I didn't like is that when it's set up in the normal position (legs not spread out) that the base is not as wide as my Gitzo or Bogen tripods, therefore it's not quite as stable as I believe it could be. Can't go wrong, go for it!

The tripod is very lightweight. It's not as stable as a heavier tripod would be but it is very very portable and versatile as well. It comes with a case and while I was price shopping for it I noticed that all the other vendors mentioned this feature, a custom made case for what is obviously meant to be a tripod to be taken with you. So no mention of a valuable feature but with an offer to sell you an Adorama case for it. My question - what do you do with the Adorama case? Put the tripod in it's case and then into the Adorama case??? Also, most of the reviews show the mast inverted for macro work and the like but the documentation while otherwise very thorough does not show how to invert the mast, you can figure it out for yourself but you shouldn't have to, that's what documentation is for. Otherwise I am very satisfied with my purchase.

Great value. When standing at it's most erect, this tripod can be a little unstable on uneven ground. However, when the legs folded out wide, it is very stable and can allow you to shoot very near ground level. This is not a professional grade tripod, but will do most of what the average photo-enthusiast needs, for minimal outlay of cash. Minimum use of plastic (think metal construction) is a bonus.
