Being that these things can run the gamut price-wise, this little gem is more than adequate to any task. Smooth, built like an anvil and simplicity at its best. Even without regard to price I love this thing. When Price is a consideration, I love this thing. No hype, just quality delivered at a very surprising price-point.

I got this for my brother for Christmas to mount on a Manfrotto monopod, and he loved it. He was impressed with the quality.

Bought to replace a useless ravelli ball head and I might be buying a dolica tripod as well. Quality over quantity

While it appears sturdy, panning unscrews the base. Had to take it apart, clean the stiff lube out of it, and relube to get it to work properly.

Works great with my canon 70D and Tamron 150-600 mm lens (heavy). Tried it on the beach and held the weight stable. Very easy to adjust.

Bought the Ball Head after trying a Dolica Travel tripod. Bought their Pro Monopod as well and have absolutely NO regrets. Back to the ball head...good solid build quality, tight tolerances with the knobs making for a smooth pan and tilt. Safety feature keeps the plate on the head with a simple push button release. I am very happy with it and would highly recommend it as well as the Dolica brand to anyone looking for a tripod/monopod/ball head.

I use this with a bank of LED lights I put on a lightstand. It allows me to position a soft light source in very dark areas.

The good: Easy to use quick release with spring loaded catch to prevent accidental detachment. The large ball clamp is very well designed, it does not take much pressure to lock it in place and it is possible to use varying degrees of pressure to smoothly pan / tilt small to large lenses. Ball head rotates smoothly with very little sticking. Easily handled my D300 with an older (ie heavy) 200mm lens, no creeping even when I put pressure on the front of the lens barrel. Very solid build. The Bad: The finish is not first class, but seems to hold up well enough. Some image shifting when locking down the ball. No matter how hard I tried I could not keep the image perfectly as framed once I locked down the clamp. Note that this shift is barely noticeable unless you are doing critical macro work. Not a deal breaker but something to be aware of. Also, the bottom pan knob needs to be pretty darn tight in order for it to be 100% locked down. All in all much, much better than I expected for a budget ball head.

The Dolica B204 Professional Dual Knob Ball Head is an upgraded classic design ball head that utilizes a dual knob design to independently lock pan and tilt separately. The advantage of independent locking knobs is they are able to isolate tilt angle and pan across the same tilt angle. This is a great feature for horizontal panorama shots as well as shots that require the same tilt angle.
This heavy duty ball head can carry a camera load of up to 17 lb and makes it suitable for entry, mid and pro level DSLRs. It has upgraded features such as degree angle marks and anti-slip quick release lock. The Dolica B204 comes with a quick release plate with rubber padding and a 1/4 thumb screw to ensure a tight fit with camera.
