the piece that i needed
Exactly the quick-release plate that i needed to refurbish a second-hand tripod. Works just fine.

One for each body or long lens -- when in the field
We swap camera bodies and lenses when on a shoot, so why mess with attaching/detaching these plates? At this price, stock up! I prefer to attach the big, white, heavy lens directly to the tripod but the body still has it's plate attached. No time to lose when the sun is just right...

What can you say about a release plate?
I'm very happy with the tripod and have purchased additional release plates for my various cameras. Locks tightly to tripod, holds camera securely.
