Good product well made. I’m using it for a pochade box for painting on the go. It’s little too heavy for hikes but it is a solid sturdy product.

Lightweight buy very solid. Very well made. I use an off-balance heavy plein air box and the ballhead holds it solid with no slipping or sagging. The bag is durable with leather reinforcements.

I bought 2 of these with some serious concerns due to it's cost back in Jan. 2015. Over 3.5 years later, I can confidently say that is has never let me down, and it is still going strong. I have shot on the sandy, salty beaches of my beloved LA pacific shore. I have gone up mountains with heavy and long lenses without issue. The "retractable" spikes are perfect, especially in dirt, sand, etc. The downsides you should know is that you may have to tighten the screw on the ball a bit extra tight, not straining but a tad bit with your hand, not tools. I found this the issue with both of my copies. Not a negative but the heaviest kit I've had on it is my D700 w/ grip and a 300 f/2.8, no issues, no play in either horizontal or vertical positions. I bought this tripod 30% off of its current pricing, it was on sale. However, if you don't find this one on sale, for a few extra dollars you can get Dolica's own 57" Premium Reversible Tripod with Premium Ball Head. You can't go wrong with either. Highly Recommended!

I'm very impressed with the build quality and features for the price. Everything feels solid, legs lock into position well, and the ball head isn't too bad either. I'll probably switch out from time to time with my Slik pistol grip ball head. This is an excellent value, and for the price - you can't go wrong. Good job Dolica. Thanks Adorama.

This is the first tripod I have purchased and I'm very happy with the result. The quality really surprised me for such a low price. It is very sturdy, my daughter ran into it a couple of times while I was taking pictures of her and it barely filnched. Its light-weight and comes with a bag, perfect for throwing over your shoulder for a hike. My complaints are minor. You have to get the head in just the right position to make it fit in the bag, there is a bubble level for the base but not for the head, and I'm leary of the plastic leg clips (they seem pretty sturdy but they are still plastic). Overall, if you are looking for a relatively inexpensive but effective tripod then I would recommend giving this a try.

I was concerned at this price point about this tripod holding a DSLR with a larger zoom lens. It has exceeded expectations. It's rock solid with a Nikon D5000 and Tamron 18-270 lens at full extension. I am able to zoom in and out and use the pan part of the head with no compromise in the position of the camera. The lack of a panning handle or lever is of no concern to me because I very rarely shoot video; if you do be aware you will have to hold the camera in order to pan. Also, just for fun I hung the carry bag with a glass bottle inside it off the end of the lens in my picture as a sort of stress test. The camera still didn't dip.

Lightweight but solid!

The Dolica GX650 65 inch aluminum alloy tripod and B204 ball head is a complete support system for your camera (SLR with lens and/or DSLR with lens). It is designed to be lightweight, portable and stable for any and every occasion. The Tripod is composed of Anodized Aluminum Alloy (AAA) and Plastic Polymer Composite (PPC).
The combination of both materials maximizes the size and reinforced stability it provides to make every photo-shoot perfect. The sleek ball head includes a quick release plate with a 3/8 inch mount for cameras. It attaches to the ball head with a safety lock to prevent the camera from slipping off and falling while loosening your quick release plate. While you have you camera attached to the quick release plate and ball head, you can pan 360 degree and tilt up to 90 degree. You can also attach a lens (i.e. 200mm f/4) mount to the quick release plate and have the comfort of stabilizing with confidence.
The upgraded GX650 tripod has its professional function and additional upgraded features. The three major features are: four level positioning, interchangeable spike/rubber feet and a dual purpose mount. Uneven surface can be a big issue for many photographers and that is why the tripod is engineered with four levels for high to low level shots. You have the freedom to position each individual leg from a standard position to adjusting each leg at four-different levels.
To decrease the chance of slippage, use rubber feet for soft surface and spike rubber feet for rugged terrain. You can remove the hook from the dual purpose counter weight hook mount from the bottom of the center column, remove the center column, insert the counter weight hook mount on the top of the tripod (attach the camera), adjust each individual leg to ground level and you're ready to shoot extremely low macro-shots.
