Questions & Answers

Shopper : how do i reverse the center column?
Shopper : how does the quick release plate on Dolica g100 pistol grip come off and on?SAMUEL S : You have to unscrew the top of the tripod off.It comes off right below where the degree marks are, and the pistol grip replaces it. It took me a minute to figure it out.DANIEL P J : Yes it does.THOMAS R : There is a metal silver tab on the base that when pushed up releases the baseplate. If the thumbscrew on the side is tightened however, it will lock the baseplate in place.BRIAN A : It screw on and off in second. About the same amount of time it takes to screw your camera to the tripod.LARRY G : Hi again: Sorry. I gave you the wrong info about the pistol grip. Loosed the knurled screw.then push the silver trigger on the front of the grip head. If you push the pin in of the top of the grip, it locks it so it won't dump you camera by mistake. Sorry. Hope you see this correction. LarryLARRY G : Hello: To remove the Quick Release plate on the Pistol Grip: 1. Loosen the knurled screw on the right side of the body 2. Press the button on the top of the plate 3. Slide the plate off toward the side marked DOLICA Works great. Remember to tighten the knurled screw back when reattaching the plate with a camera mounted or the plate will slide off. Good luck. I like my DOLICA.' LarryGORDY M : There's a release button on the front for quick release, there's also a screw on the side to stable it once it's on the tripod.DAVE H : There is a metal lever you push down to to release the quick release plate.ANDREA C : Agora a asked me to answer your question, but I have the same exact question!NANCY S : It slides in and then you use a screw to tighten.L. WARREN T : There is a lever that locks it and a thumb screw that secures it so there is no wiggle.MIKE B : You unscrew the ball head and screw on the trigger. Hope this helps. Love it
Shopper : how do you get instructions for the dolica g100 pistol grip?STANLEY Y : Instructions aren't needed. Fairly obvious screw-in connectivity. Squeeze trigger handle to adjust attitude--release trigger to lock in place.MARK F : Not much to it. The ball head unscrews, this goes on in place of it, and that's pretty much it. Squeeze the trigger to loosen it up,position it, and release it to tighten it.Steve V : I really don`t think you would need an instructional manual. It is pretty self explanatory on what it is and how it is to be used.RALPH L : I don't recall getting instructions, but it works simply depressing the grip and positioning to the desired location and then releasing. I suggest using the grip without the camera attached just to get used to it. It's great. Enjoy!KENT M S : Haven't had a chance to use it. Like the ball head. Looking forwards to using it.DEBORAH B : there are some instructions in the zippered compartment of the carrying case along with tools.KENNETH B : I don't use it, but I don't believe so.

Excellent product and price!

I have purchased many tripods including a carbon fiber model Swarovski. I needed something light for backpacking and this is the ticket! $ included tripod and ball mount. It is very steady, even in the wind. I use it for my Swarovski spotting scope and my Nikon camera. Everything has been great thus far!

Excellent Tripod

I am very pleased with the Dolica Carbon Fiber Tripod. It is light to carry, easy to set-up and adjust, and provides a study base for taking photos. I would recommend this tripod to anyone. I thought the price provided excellent value.

Solid Tripod

I had been using an aluminum tripod with my Nikon D7200 but it was a bit unstable, especially with any wind. I've only used this one a few times but it is solid and adjust well if you do not over tighten the leg adjustments. If you do over tighten they tend to stick. Not a real issue, I'd rather have them stick than drift.

Good brand, good quality, it's worth.

The quality is very good. No any damage about tripod with shipment which I always care about. And more, it is really light to take somewhere. All in all, I am satisfied.

Great to take hiking

This tripod is lightweight, strong and the perfect companion to take along on a photo hike where you're not sure if you're going to need a tripod, and don't want to drag a heavy one with you. It's easy to set up, easy to carry, strong, and quite stable. The ball head is easy to adjust, and the tripod plate has a safety to prevent the camera from sliding off the head - a necessity. The only negative I found with the tripod is the plate. Sometimes the screw prevents the plate from sliding into the head when nothing is attached to it (it needs to be pushed in all the way). And the plate requires a bit of work to slide into the head - especially in the dark when you can't see to line it up in the groove. After a couple of weeks of use outside, inside, hiking, etc, the tripod has proven itself to be very stable and useful- so much better than my previous "heavy" tripods.

Problems

I have had two of these shipped to me; both have had the horizontal leveling head fluid missing when they arrived. Adorama has replaced one and I am going to try a third (and last) time, but it shows that Dolica has a problem with this. I should also note that I have an aluminum Dolica pro series tripod that I took on a 1-week trip and the fluid leaked out during the trip. Dolica - please fix this problem. Adorama - thanks for letting me return these items.

Light and Strong

My Dolica tripod has already taken a beating from its regular use and it remains as reliable as it was out of the box. Light weight enough to carry with you on the trail, yet sturdy enough to hold a Canon 80D with a sizeable lens. For the rally big lenses a gimble attaches very easily and the tripod holds it all as steady as a rock.

Like the tripod, the pistol grip is so-so

I like the tripod a lot. It's compact, lightweight, and moves and extends smoothly and easily. The pistol grip, while functional, is quite large and heavy and seems to be a miss-match for the tripod. I already have a nice, compact and very smooth Sunpak pistol grip however, that I'm very happy with and that works great with this tripod. The bag is nice too and I can fit the tripod, and monopod (with the Sunpak pistol grip attached) into it.

First Tripod

Decided to go with something a little more up the price range that some of the little $20 tripods after seeing some of them just fall apart. I'm glad I did. This tripod is very sturdy, quite light, and easy to use. Makes taking shots effortless. Would recommend to anyone who needs a tripod and has not really reached the professional threshold quite yet!

functional, eye pleasing & inexpensive.

i would imagine this tripod is made for and marketed towards one who wants a tripod to do as one should(keep a camera actually steady), but not achieve pro performance. it sports the subtle good looks of carbon fibre and is stable for, say, a mirrorless type camera. i don't think it would stay put with anything much larger. i've no complaints.

Real Value here, no need to buy $1k tripod

First the thing I value most in a company is how it takes care of it's clients. The products must be good, and a good value, but the company must stand behind the customer. I have had a Dolica for many years now, and in one of my last shoots, I lost one of the rubber feet. No big deal at all, that tripod has been to some really remote locations. That is why I got it to begin with. It is lightweight and compact for hiking in to get the great shots. I called Customer service and sadly my model is so old they don't have any replacement parts. It is a real shame since that is the only thing wrong with it is one missing foot. At any rate, since they could not provide a new foot for me, they helped me into this new improved model. When company stands behind products and customers like that, they will have my business forever. There is no need to spend excessive money on Tripods that will cost you over $1k, you will get great steady shots from these products, enjoy having them with you, and working with a company that stands behind them. This is what is always going to be in my bag. Lightweight, sturdy, compact, and a company that cares. Save some money for new bodies and glass, this is the tripod you want.

Great value for the price

I travel extensively and find the weight and compact size perfect for my needs. For the price, it is difficult to find a carbon fiber tripod with its features. I would recommend it for lighter weight camera's, as it becomes a little unstable with my Nikon d800 especially if there is any wind.

Very Nice Tripod

Lightweight and has a nice removable mount for the camera. Pistol grip is very solid and seems to be well made. Only very slight drawback is that the pistol grip doesn't fit in the tripod bag and will need to go in a camera bag instead. This is my third tripod and hopefully will last a long time

A great travel tripod

A great tripod for the price and for carry. It's very light but seems study enough. Weight hook on bottom can increase stability (a nice feature). The extra pistol grip head is quite heavily built although I don't anticipate much use for my purposes. The twist leg locks did not work well at first but seem to be "breaking in". I would prefer a lever system for speed and convenience. A photographer with a heavy camera and lens might not find it adequate but it works well with my lighter SLR.

Great Tripod

My wife had wanted a tripod for her Nikon D5200. After reading some positive reviews on this particular tripod, I decided to get this for her birthday. The tripod is light and folds down to be rather compact and comes with a carrying case. The Pistol Grip head is a nice bonus. Price for this tripod seemed very reasonable and we have been very happy with our purchase. I would definitely recommend this tripod to anyone looking to purchase a light, compact piece of equipment.

Heavy Duty Light Weight

I purchased this tripod to capture long exposures of the night sky. I have also used it to take portraits and landscapes. It's easy to use, light weight. This tripod holds my Nikon D5100 and my longest heaviest Nikkor 300mm lens. The pistol grip is firm but can be adjusted. I have no complaints.

Misleading Ad..

The tripod is well made and suits me perferct but, if you read the overview you see that it says "can hold up to 18 lbs when actualy the manual says 14lbs OVERVIEW: Other features of this pistol grip are triple bubble levels to make sure the camera is level horizontally or vertically. This pistol grip is constructed for the professional in mind with an operating loaded of 18lbs and makes it suitable for entry, mid, and pro level DSLRs. Great product for the price!

I am a wedding and portrait photographer. It is a great tripod for the price. The grip head is heavy but it is sturdy. The tripod came with a case but when you put the grip head on it doesn't fit in the case.
