Definitely would not recommend these room sensors. They do not work and are a waste of money. It adjusts the temperature 5-10* colder in my 3 year olds room so during the night it drops into the 50's. You would think the room sensor would not let that happen.

Works perfectly fine for temperature monitoring, but for the price should also measure humidity. there are parts of the world where humidity control is a concern, and being able to monitor it in different parts of the house would be extremely useful, as the thermostat is able to turn on the ac to lower the humidity.

I am a renter and have seen my electric bill jump so much in the last 2 yrs. I saw on my bill that they had a program that they would come out and access ways you can save money free of charge. My landlord was 100% behind this! Well they came and installed an ecobee thermostat! The one we had here was very old ! Now I can program what temp I want during the day for ac/heat as well as my night temps! I saw a change in my savings the first month ! I continue to see savings 6 months later. The reason is because you are not having to keep changing your temps. This is so easy ! Check with your electric company they have contacts with ecobee then you can get the extra room sensors ! Been worth it ! Save the money you save for something fun for yourself!

I have one for each room and though it is nice to get an idea of which room tends to run hot to be honest unless your house is on an automatic zone setting then your AC will run and run and run and one part of your house will be freezing while the other part is ok.. I ended up removing all of them and now the main thermostat controls everything and so far so good.

My Ecobee 4 never worked properly for my intended use. Apparently my smart sensor was the culprit and Ecobee will not replace and the icing on the cake is that they only sell two packs for $80.

After latest software upgrade the thermostat does not work properly. Temperature drops significantly and heater just won't turn on. I do not recommend this product.

I've always been using the solution. I believe the main flaw is on the temp sensors not being smart enough. I say this based on all tests and tweaks I've made with it over the course of using it. Temperature detection is spot ON but occupancy detection does not. The main flaw is the refresh rate for occupancy detection. It can't be changed and takes more than 20 minutes to refresh which does not help when doing follow mode. If they can add the option to adjust the refresh rate for occupancy feature then I can recommend it and support it.

This unit has been a pain and aggravation since I purchased my home and it?s only been a year

Simply put the sensors did not help regulate the hot/cold zones in my home. They are fancy thermometers. On top of that, I tried to return them but the company started my 30 day trial period on the day of purchase not when I received the product. I wanted to give them a chance to actually work and am now stuck with them.

The thermostat always reads warmer than what it really is in the house, even with the extra sensor which has now died and is useless so it's either really cold in the house during winter and I have to turn the threshold up or it's really warm during summer and the a/c will constantly running. The extra sensors are never in stock and you can't get them anywhere else. Kinda useless to have an accessory for a main product that is never available.

I have an Ecobee Thermostat, but the sensor on it can't be used because of "wall draft". Supports recommendation was to seal the hole behind the AC. I have fully sealed the hole behind the thermostat and no air is coming through the wall. Yet I still see a rise in temperature of 1-2 degrees when the AC turns on. At this point I am 95% certain, the heat of the thermostat itself is affecting its detected temperature during operation of the AC as the heat is being pulled across the sensor. So their next recommendation is to buy a smart sensor and place it in a different location. This is less than ideal as I have to spend more money, but fine. Except smart sensors are not available to purchase anywhere and they have no timetable for when they will become available again. So now I'm stuck with a thermostat that can't tell the temperature correctly, with no way of solving it without completely rewiring my thermostat to a different location.

I have had it for 2 years now and the screen keeps going blank, it runs when it shouldn't running, or it turns on and never shots off. The techs come and they said there was nothing wrong. They came back again since the screen would be blank for hours and they replaced it with a new one. I'm still having the same problems plus more..... And my bill was outrageous! When they didn't know what else to say they just told me I needed to check all the wires in the wall, that I needed to call an electrician. I NEVER had any problems with the other system I had.

I bought the earlier version when I bought the thermostat. It lasted less than five months. Since I only need one and you have to buy 2 I?m reluctant to spend more money on the sensors. Any thoughts?

I bought this two-pack of room sensors, and one of the two is faulty. It completely drains full batteries over the course of 2 days. I have found many other people who have this similar problem. In testing, I have found that it is definitely not due to faulty batteries, but is for sure a manufacturing defect. The batteries needed for this sensor are CR2477s, which are not only quite expensive but are hard to find, which has been frustrating. They cannot be found in most local hardware stores, so they require purchasing online or finding a specialty battery store. Overall, between having a faulty product and having to buy expensive batteries, these room sensors have been frustrating. The one sensor that is not faulty is nice, but I don't want to pay $80 for a new 2-pack that may have only one sensor that properly functions.

I've been using my Ecobee for about 3 years. I first had the Nest which works fine but like most thermostats, it reads temperature usually in a hallway which isn't representative of the rest of the house, though I do like the routine learning functionality of the Nest. The Ecobee does all the regular stuff like know when your not home to use the a/c less, and know when your on your way home to get to your desired temp, etc... But when you use the Ecobee "follow me" feature with the room sensors, it's a game-changer. With this feature, it prioritizes the temperatures of the rooms that you're actually using over rooms that are empty or you temporarily pass through. You can even choose which sensors in which rooms you want the Ecobee to use for different times of the day by adjusting your temperature comfort settings. I had the nest for 2 years and after switching to my Ecobee, I actually saw a decrease in a/c usage ( but not comfort once I had enough sensors and had my comfort settings optimized.

Battery only lasted about 3 months and are very expensive if you can find a quality replacement. A lot of junk batteries on Amazon. Benefit of additional sensor is partially nullified by expense of batteries.

These are a vast improvement over the batery-eaters offered before. So far, the two I installed are working as described. I just installed two more, and have the same beef I had with the first set: for the price asked, Ecobee could at least include two little screws and anchors! Not all of us want theee sensors on a table top.

I’ve have this system for 5 years now. The thermostat works as intended but the sensors are a waste of money. When my kids are sleeping the sensors don't pick the room up as occupied. Thus only averaging the temp of the main thermostat with the 3 sensors. Problem is that the temp downstairs is far lower and doesn’t hit the average threshold to signal the AC to kick on. Seriously don't waste your money.

If you think you are going to set the smart sensor in a room and it is going to help make that room cooler or warmer by triggering the thermostat to turn on your AC /heater you're wrong. This device does not work as advertised. It will NOT trigger the thermostat to start your AC or heater. It only reports the temperature of the room to thermostat, which then averages the temperature of it and any other connected sensors. Only when that average breaks the threshold, then the thermostat starts the AC or Heater. This is directly from customer support: "The ecobee uses room sensors to obtain multiple temperature readings throughout your home. As a default, the ecobee will display the average temperature of all participating sensors, as opposed to just one reading at the thermostat location." I'm in Arizona and my device participates in Community Energy Savings which, unknown to me, basically lets the temperature go over the threshold by an additional degree. Since you cannot set any type of threshold independently for the smart monitor, this requires me to turn down the thermostat. I have my thermostat set at 78, the A/C will only kick on once the average temperature hit 79, by that time it is already 80 in the room where the sensor is located. If I have to turn down the thermostat to get the room with sensor to maintain 78, what is the point of the sensor? They said you can turn on the follow me option which is supposed to give the sensor some kind of priority. I've had mine turned on from day 1, can see the senor identifies the room as occupied, but the room still get up to 80 or hotter before the A/C kicks on. This device a complete waste of money and you can effectively get the same results by adjusting the primary thermostat and adjusting your vents. I would have rather spent that $80 toward a good fan for the room. I called the EcoBee customer service and they had ZERO solutions to fix the problem.

I have had these for over a month in my master bedroom. They never go from ‘unoccupied’ to ‘occupied’. I keep my house at 72 degrees in the summer and my upstairs remains 78 because they don’t work - even at night when it’s set to 68 downstairs it still at least 8-10 degrees hotter since the thermostat doesn’t communicate with these. Waste of $80

Had for under 1 month but works great. If you have a newborn at home the aux sensors are a must have to keep babys room at the right temp during our long drawn out winters

My system has been up and running through the Arizonias temps of 115* and winters temps primetime 36* but recover helps keep my bill down to a much more reasonable bill than my old thermostat! Thanks ecobee

This extra sensor pack comes with 2 sensors - they are terrific for helping the ecobee blend into the background and make you more comfortable. I love their integration with homekit - they can give motion status as well as temperature though it would be nice if the motion updated a little bit more frequently. The batteries last for about a year and can be changed pretty easily

I've had the sensors for 3 years now and I think I've only changed the battery once. That being said, I wish the sensors would be more quick to detect that the room is unoccupied and switch the thermostat to away. Right now, the time it takes to update takes a bit of time

Love the room sensors!

My ecobee3 came with a room sensor, but since my house is fairly spread out, I wanted to add a few more sensors to fine tune my thermostat. I love them! They not only show the temperature of the room they're in, but the thermostat can use that info to average out the temperature of the house and give more precise readings. I'm also big into Apple's HomeKit platform, so I was very happy when compatibility with HomeKit was added. When being used with HomeKit, the sensors also function as occupa...

A must have for room temperature regulation!
By fisheromega
After installing my ecobee3 and the two sensors that come with it, I quickly realized that I needed more sensors. My house has about an eight-degree difference from one end of the house to the other. This is due to the position of the house to the rise/set of the sun and the ceiling heights. With the added sensors (a total of seven, I am able to average the temperatures of the house throughout the day as the sun moves through the sky and as the seasons change. I strongly suggest getting s...

Ecobee Room Sensors pair with your Ecobee thermostat to read temperature and occupancy. That's how we deliver comfort to the rooms that matter most.
Sensor Technology
Most thermostats measure temperature in only one place. Not us
Because most thermostats read the temperature in one place (usually the hallway), this can make other rooms uncomfortable. Ecobee thermostats can pair with room sensors to deliver the preferred temperature to the rooms that matter. That's how we help manage pesky hot or cold spots and provide your family with whole home comfort.
