The kit includes the Data Bag, a separate Faraday bag for secure transport, and a device cradle that facilitates the use of capacitive touchscreen devices within the data bag. This Black Hole Data Bag Kit stands out as the first Faraday bag to incorporate a fully shielded USB 2.0 cable, allowing for in-field or laboratory device charging and analysis.
To use, simply connect a device to the USB block within the bag and seal the top of the Data Bag. The shielded device can then connect to a computer, forensic analysis device, or portable power source via the external filtered USB connection.
Thanks to the USB cable and connections being completely sealed into the bag, RF signal leakage during examination or charging is minimized, ensuring optimal shielding effectiveness. Forensic examinations can be conducted using the filtered USB port, while the devices under investigation remain shielded.
The bag's window feature allows investigators to visually monitor and operate devices, preview evidence, track battery power, device condition, connection status, charging status, and examination stage. To enhance shielding during transport in unpredictable signal environments, the Faraday kit includes a separate extra-large non-window transport bag for maximum shielding.
