Works Flawlessly
Used this for capturing analogue video from a sophisticated X-Ray machine. Worked flawlessly. Used Bandicam software for video capturing. I've purchased a few of these and they seem to work well for grabbing video/audio from VCRs, old camcorders, etc.

El Gato Video Capture - excellent way to digitize old analog videos.
I have been using the El Gato Video Capture Device for several months. The purpose of buying the unit was to digitize numerous VHS tapes from 30-35 years ago. I was hesitant to mail them - to a third party company to transfer the memories to a digital format - due to the possibility of the tapes being lost in the mail. Also, the expense is quite a bit higher than just doing the conversion yourself. Anyway, the device is very easy to set up and I have no complaints. If you have a VCR which plays VHS tapes, you should be able to digitize them via the El Gato video capture card. The purchase of this video capture card was definitely worth it! I say this after successfully digitizing hours of VHS memories.

So far so good!
So far so good, I was able to transfer VHS tapes to my computer with ease. However, I would have like an option to stop and start to only transfer parts if a tape as one. Now, to see if I can delete scenes/create a movie. If all goes well I will be transferring my mini videos to my computer.

Straightforward and easy to use!
The Elgato Video Capture program is incredibly straightforward and easy to use. I couldn't be happier with this purchase. The only feature I hope to see added in a future version is the ability to clip so that omission of certain footage is possible.

Brilliantly Simple and Works Amazing!!!!
This is exactly what I've been looking for. Plugs in, works immediately, and now all my home movies from decades ago are in my iCloud Photos!
I've tried many different versions of this type of product and this one is by far the best solution I've experienced yet.
What I love:
* The simple, plug-and-play nature of this device
* The software is not complicated
* The program isn't trying to sell you an upgrade all the time. I LOVE THAT
* The video quality seems great. Everyone that sees the videos loves them.
* Works with all my old Composite Video/Audio Connection devices
Cons
* I have to sit through all the movies :) (If it could import instantly, that would make it perfect)
* I'm worried about upgrading to Big Sur for compatibility. That might not be a problem, but I'm worried.
Conclusion
If you are thinking about whether or not to get this, just get it. This device is amazing. All of our memories are now where we can access them instantly and it's all thanks to this great little device.

Perfect solution
This worked perfectly to convert my old HandyCam tapes to digital. Truly saved precious memories that I haven't looked at in over 20 years! What a blessing! Still need to try it out using some old VCR tapes (just need to locate a player LOL)

It worked! But not without acquiring an older platform - an old laptop with Windows 7. I could not get it to run on Windows 10 devices. After managing this issue, it performed as advertised.The software is a bit clumsy and editing clips is doable but not seamless. Overall, its providing a good way to preserve our VHS family movies. Less expensive than sending tapes away to 3rd party companies for professional conversion.

Pretty great VHS to digital converter
Pretty rudimentary software but this device is a great way to transfer VHS tapes to digital files directly on your computer, and much cheaper than having it done at Costco or Walmart. They convert photos and slides to digital at a pretty reasonable rate but the tapes start at something like $35/hour so if you have a lot of tapes to convert, this $90 converter is a great deal.
The main drawback is that you can only import from VHS in real time, but I'm pretty sure that's a standard feature in most importing. Granted, I'm not an expert but I think so.

Excellent product, Setup instructions should be updated, Great customer service
Fantastic product and easy to use! The setup process was a bit frustrating as a crucial step was not made clear in either the package or website instructions. (You'll need to install both the driver and software before use. Only the software is easily found following the provided directions.) A Great Product
This device is very easy to use and has saved me so much money on converting all my old family videos to digital copies. There are also several YouTube videos on how to use it for those who have trouble at first. Would definitely recommend this to anyone looking to save their family memories!

Great product, highly recommend.

so far so good, it took a lot of IT assistance to get it to work. i have a 64 bit, HP computer with windows 10. Windows no longer supports video playback or editing. It was really a pain to set up, but it works. for those who are in my shoes with old technology video cameras.... Good Luck!!

VHS Treasures to Digital
This product was a cinch to hook up, the software was easy to download, and the program is easy to use. Occasionally, the audio or video cut out during the conversion process, but I’m converting some fairly old tapes; and staring anew usually pulls in the video on the 2nd try. I’m just grateful to have this easy and inexpensive way to convert and save my own videos, which easily import into Final Cut Pro for the next step of creating videos for my family.

Analog Video capture device
I had lots of old VHS tapes that need to be converted to the current format(s), i.e. playable on various devices. So far this device & the software have worked flawlessly, and, all of the converted video are clear and maintained original quality. The SW interface UI is pretty straight forward and simple to use. I intend to edit and clean the videos using Adobe or similar professional software. This product does what it says and I am happy with its performance so far.

It's a winner hands down
I have purchased a total of 6 different USB capture devices from various manufacturers via Amazon and I can tell you with confidence this is the best performing device of them all.
It ease of use and simplicity makes for a much easier digital video conversion and the video quality is every bit ss good as the original. No frame loss. No irritating driver or compatibility issues to frustrate you. It's well manufactured and The vendor was on time and the device was very well packaged. If it were a USB 3.0 device it would have recieved 5 stars. My operating system is windows 10 pro 64 bit. Powered by intel 9th gen CPU's. Nvidia 2080 RTX GRAPHICS CARD. And 64 GB Dram, and 4 tb internal SSD Drives. Thank you for finally making my work less frustrating. If you're on the fence because this one costs more just buy it. The device works as adverstised.

Good Product Overall
So far the video capture is working well with my computer. I have an HP ProBook with 16 gigs of RAM and a 7th generation i7 processor (2.50 GHz). The standard AV cords that came with the product gave a lot of feedback (hissing sound), which was very frustrating. Luckily I had some heavy-duty AV cords that word much better and the hissing sound went away. The picture quality is really good as well. I used this device to transfer VHS tapes.

Works very well! Every once and awhile I need to restart the program because of audio issues, however, it could be due to the VHS tape deterioration as well.
