About Electro-Harmonix Attack Decay

From the vintage vaults of Electro-Harmonix comes the reimagined Attack Decay Tape Reverse Simulator Pedal, a coveted gem among music gear enthusiasts. This classic pedal, originally known as a Tape Reverse Simulator, is celebrated for its unique ability to generate volume and reverse swells, emulate backward tape sounds, create artificially short staccato notes, and mimic the effects of bowed instruments.

The newly designed EHX Attack Decay retains the charm of the original while incorporating modern features for enhanced functionality and convenience. It offers the flexibility to produce a single volume envelope, akin to the original, or, when Poly is engaged, it can apply separate volume envelopes to each note played.

The built-in Harmonix fuzz has been upgraded to a fully controllable distortion with dedicated gain, tone, and volume controls. The effects loop provides the opportunity to apply the volume envelope to any signal present at the Return jack, offering a new dimension of sound design possibilities.

The Attack Decay pedal also features an Expression pedal/CV input and three user presets, giving musicians complete control over their sound. The Vol knob adjusts the master output level, while the Blend knob serves as a master wet/dry mix. The Attack and Decay knobs respectively set the swell or fade-in speed and the staccato or fade-out speed of the volume envelopes.

The Poly button allows easy toggling between mono and poly modes. The SENS MINI knob sets the threshold for a new pluck detection, triggering the start or restart of the volume envelope. The Harmonix MINI knob adjusts the gain and saturation of the internal Harmonix distortion, while the Tone MINI knob sets the tone of the Harmonix section.

The H.Vol MINI knob controls the output volume of the Harmonix section. Preset buttons 1, 2, and 3 allow for easy loading and unloading of presets, with a long press saving the current sound to a preset. The Bypass footswitch toggles between effect and buffered bypass, and the Harmonix/Preset footswitch engages and disengages the Harmonix fuzz.

The Send Jack serves as the signal source for the Attack Decay's external FX loop, while the Return Jack receives the output from an external effects loop or another instrument. The EXP Jack allows for external control over every knob on the Attack Decay, or to trigger the volume envelopes from an external source.

In essence, the Attack Decay Tape Reverse Simulator Pedal is a versatile tool that offers a wide range of sound manipulation possibilities, making it a valuable addition to any musician's gear collection.
