Henry W : Okay so this "action" flash Head has a duration capable of up to 1/5000+ of a second but my Canon 5Dm3 only shoots to 1/200 sync. Do I need some kind of extra controller to shoot over 1/200 with this flash? I know without flash my shutter can go to 1/8000. Can someone please explain how I can use this system past 1/200? I'm confused...Phil B : Hi Henry, Apples and Oranges. The flash head is designer to output all of its light very quickly. Hence the name "Action". Fast flash output used to be the highest goal for flash action stopping to prevent blur (and still is) for normal (below 1/250) shutter speeds. The 1/200 sec X sync speed of your camera indicates that very fastest speed it has with both shutter curtains open. This will not stop moving things but the very brief flash output will if there is not a lot of ambient daylight in the scene. Above this speed the both shutter curtains are moving and at 1/8000 second they form a very small slit that moves quickly across your image sensor exposing each part of the sensor for only 1/8000 second as it moves across it. No can do for flash, Until recently. Your Canon has HSS flash with their flashes. Elinchrom has "Hi Sync" with their flashes. However, your Action flash head is not suited to use it. If you decide to get into this, you need to know that you have to make a ODS adjustment of 4.0 to get the light into the sweet spot of the shutter. This will all make sense if you decide to make the jump. Best, Phil
ROEL R : Can i use this together with my hs head on the same elb module at the same time?ANDREW R : I think it's theoretically possible, the manual for the ELB 400 doesn't appear to indicate otherwise. That being said, I don't think the HS would be usable when mixing the heads in that fashion.

Provides the shortest flash duration of the heads available for the EBL 400 system. Not a choice for the Hi Sync features of the Elinchrom system.
