Shopper : What are the main differences between this and the BRX 500 model?Murray S : I own both of these strobes and use both regularily. The main difference between the two I believe is the recycle times and the advanced features on the ELC Pro. If you are looking for a basic Strobe that does the basic features of a strobe, you will not find any difference. If you are looking for a unit that does more than just the basic functionality chose the ELC Pro. It recycles much faster, and has some features that we use in more technical shooting situations. One thing that we use the BRX specifically for is when our light is installed or used in an area where we do not have easy access to the controls on the strobe itself. Power settings can be controlled remotely on both, but the on off switch on an ELC Pro must be turned on at the light itself. Because of that, if we are using the strobe in a situation where we need to turn it on or off and cannot easily reach the on strobe on/off switch we always use a BRX because it can be turned on by plugging or unplugging the power cord. Weird detail, but important if you are needing that specific situation. Hope that helps!WAYNE M : ELC can handle up to 20 frames per second. BRX cannot do that. it also has a wider range. I think 8 stops.

Bad Flashpoint stand (tripod)

i received the shipment in two packages which cost me more for custom and shipper fees this is from one side , from the other side the flashpoint (stand) is ridiculous, useless and unreliable other than that the flash head is very good and a good upgrade from the rx400.

I own 6 of these units and I do love the light quality and functionality of the units. I've been an Elinchrom user for about 20 years. Not till I started buying the Pro 500s and D-Lite 400s did I start having issues with the stand adaptor base from breaking or cracking. The company has always been good on sending me out replacement pieces for me to swap out, but know they are telling me to buy a third party accessory to keep this from happening. I feel like the piece on the probe is under engineered and that they are pushing off the blame.

Simply the Best Strobes for the money

I shoot mostly in Hi Speed mode on Elinchrom I freeze motion with 1/200 shutter speed and its fantastic, also you could use 1/8000 shutter speed with HS mode with no problems, also I love all the new features, like Sequence, Delay and Strobo Modes motions and 20 frames per second.

In Love with the ELC Pro 500

Set up is super easy. Just plug and play. Very powerful strobe. It can go very low power. I was able to shoot @ 2.8 Recycle time is super fast. Checkout the stroboscopic options. Highly recommend.

Well these are just STELLAR!!!

Very easy to use imediately. Top quality, nice form factor. Skyport is straitforward. I almost got the 1000's however I can't imagine using that power ever. 525Ws is more than enough. I actually really like the EL mount.

This high-caliber flash head is loaded with professional features, designed to elevate your studio photography. With short recycling times and fast flash durations, it enables freeze-motion and stop-action shooting, offering up to 20 frames per second at minimum power.

This compact flash head is equipped with an intelligent low noise, temperature-activated fan. This innovative feature ensures the head remains cool, extending the lifespan of both the flash tube and the 300W modeling lamp.

The ELC Pro HD 500 also features a pre-flash detector, allowing seamless integration of your on-camera flash into your studio system. Its power, variable continuously from 7 to 500W/s, can be mirrored by the proportional modeling lamp, enabling you to preview your lighting effects.

For wireless triggering from your camera, the flash head comes with a built-in 8-channel transceiver. You can replace the sync cord with a separately purchased transceiver, enhancing your shooting flexibility.

The ELC Pro HD 500 also offers multiple flash modes to cater to different shooting scenarios. The Sequential Mode allows triggering of up to 20 ELCs in bursts or a continuous cycle. The Delayed Mode provides a choice of first or second curtain syncing, while the Strobo Mode enables single frame stroboscopic action sequences.
