Shopper : Would this work with speed rings I have already for Profoto or Photoflex?JACK E : Better to ask the Elinchrom factory rep this question. The soft box and Strobe both have unique connections ... there may be something you can purchase that would serve as an adapter for other brands.RONALD S : Without trying it I could not say for sure. The ring that comes with the octabox is specially made to fold the octa out like an umbrella. It has hinging pieces that stick out that the rods stick into. So I would think that your rings would have to be kinda big to put the correct tension on the octa to make it work and give it the correct shape. This is a very nice soft box, but unless you have Elinchrom lights I would say just get something made for your lights you have.STEPHEN S : No, it is specific to Elin....MICHAEL B : I use this with my Profoto lights with an Elinchrom to Profoto adapter. it doesnt fit into traditional speedrings like a normal softbox would. it either goes right onto an elinchrom head or you use it with an adapter.

Would be excellent if it wasn't so cumbersome to assemble and take down

I would give this softbox 5 stars for the lighting, but it is much to hard to put together and take down. If you have a studio where you will leave it set up, then its a nice softbox. If you want to travel with it or even just not leave it set up all the time, I'd get a softbox that is easier to assemble and take apart. I'm surprised Elinchrom can't do better.

beautiful light

love it. i also have the deep octa and a small/med rectangle box from elinchrom/rotalux, they are all super nice soft boxes

Exactly what I expected.

The written instructions could be better. I haven't yet transported it so I don't know how easy or difficult that is. The quality of light is precisely what I expected. I'm delighted so far.
