Provides remote excellent control on a Canon SLR

This is the only product you want if you need remote control on a Canon SLR. This device is well made, has easy and clear Controls and instructions and provides immediate utility for things like time exposures etc.

Compatible with so many cameras

This controller is compatible with all of the cameras I own; 10D, 5D and 1V HS. I bought this controller because I like clear and sharp images. When used with a solid tripod this will take those sharp images you seek.

Canon falls short

I can’t answer because it doesn’t work with my camera without an accessory that canon doesn’t sell any more

No on/off switch or button?

For the price, it’s ridiculous that there isn’t an off switch. It says that the battery life is 3 years but it will stay on if the battery is in it. It’s only a CR2032 battery but it makes it very inconvenient to be installing and removing a battery. Not very good in the dark. Other than that, it does the job on my 7D. Price being so high and not having a power switch is the reason for the 2 stars.

Love this!

This is a very versatile piece of equipment! It can be used for time lapses, long exposures, and many other applications. Additionally the chord is long enough that you can get some space between yourself and your camera especially if you are shooting low to the ground.

Great for shooting star trails, easy to use. Am sure I'll find other uses for it but for now, works for me.

Works Well

I only gave this 4 stars as it seems pretty expensive for what it is. However, I tried a cheaper version of the RS-80N3 in the past and was disappointed so I opted for the Canon model. It fits securely and works well so no complaints.

If you have a Canon, this is the best you can get.....

I have had and have used a remote Canon release for a while. I wanted an intervalometer to do time-lapse and a release with a built in timer so I would not need to look at a stopwatch or smartphone to take long exposures. The price of the TC-80N3 made me reluctant to get this product. So, I purchased a "knock off" that looked and seemed the same. I used that once and was pleased but after that it never worked properly again. So, I had no choice but to get the Canon. This device works well and does exactly as it claims. The ever-crucial plug to camera port interface is exact. Why not 5 stars? It is expensive and has no dedicated on-off switch. So if you are looking for a wired device for your Canon, I would certainly get this. I just wish it had an on-off switch and did not cost this much.

A good choice

While in Maui, I did a series of morning and sunset time-lapse videos. The TC-80N3 was easy to use and reliable. I wish I had bought this first.

Well worth the price

Bought this timer for the recent lunar eclipse event. Set the program and attached to one camera which allowed me to capture the event perfectly while working a second camera in a more manual mode. I can see so many more uses over the standard Canon cable release.

What I expected

For years I've used a small, very effective but with limited (fixed) function, wireless remote for my Canon 7D. The Canon TC-80N3 Timer Remote Control went beyond helping me control exposure times for various situations requiring a remote control, especially effective for timelapsed shooting. Didn't give it 5 stars, because I would have liked a longer cable Than the one supplied and also would've prefer to have an on/off button, other Than that, I'm extremely happy and satisfied with this product and love to use it!.

Works as advertised

Works as advertised. Instruction don't make it clear how to go past 99 shots when doing time lapse. You might consider a solution like the CamRanger. A little more money but a lot more remote functionality!

It's large

I have owned RS-80N3 before buying this timer control. I've also been using PocketWizard MultiMax for timed release/exposure control. The reason of buying this item was that I needed a longer timer duration, like hours. This item certainly does what it's supposed to do. However, I have certain complaints. There are four modes that may work either independently or in combinations. There is no immediate visual cue to tell which is turned on. I might forget that I have set one setting that is not current. It's also much bigger than RS-80N3 and may be cumbersome to use.

It pays to go with Canon

Well made, easy to use (even with my big fingers), The plug fits into my 5D Mark 2 body even with my Kirk L-Bracket. Other brands that I tried did not allow for the bracket and could not fit. The fact that it does not have an off switch surprised me, however, it is very easy just to take the very long lasting battery out of the unit.

Convenient Performance as Expected

Product came in a very protective bubble wrap package. I was tempted to use it right away, but I resisted and actually read the short instruction manual. Contrary to some complaints about the cable attachment to the DSLR (I use in on a Canon EOS 5D), I found it fits only one way, and there is a positive feel that is was secured in place. On my very first try, I set up EOS 5D with 100mm macro lens, right angle viewer and Canon MT-24EX twin flash, tripod with Novoflex rail, and this TC-80N3. This is a fairly bulky set-up for macro shooting in my garden. For a brief moment, I thought maybe I should have bought a remote wireless shutter release, but once I got organized, I was back to my normal shooting mode. I adjusted instantly and the cable release was a big help. Absolutely no motion artifacts from shutter release, as expected. I shall use a similar set-up for indoor table top shooting close-up and macro work.

It is awesome!

By Craig

I use this product for time lapse photography. It is great. I would highly recommend it.

This is a powerful tool

By skyrat

This is a powerful tool that allows you to use your camera in a plethora of new ways. So, you are taking your annual Christmas picture and want time to run into the shot and then take 20 exposures at one second intervals? Yes, this will let to do that. Want to take a 3 hour exposure to see the tails on the stars as the planet rotates? Yes, this will let you do that. Want to... This is a great tool. The ONLY thing I would do different is make the start-stop button slightly larger, that is it!

This is a remote switch with an 2.6ft cord and a self-timer, interval timer, long-exposure timer, and exposure-count setting feature. The timer can be set anywhere from 1 second to 99 hours, 59 min., 59 sec. A new dial enables you to easily enter the numeric settings with a single thumb. The LCD panel can also be illuminated. It has the new N-3 type connector, which locks with a simple push.

• Remote Shutter Release
• Functions as an Intervalometer
• Self-Timer
• Interval Timer
• Long-Exposure Timer
• Exposure Count Setting
• LCD Display with Backlighting
• Enter Settings with a Single Thumb

The rear of the Controller has a slot to store the camera's remote control socket cap.
