6.5nm
Eyepiece holder plug: 2" (50.8mm)
Take your stargazing experience to the next level with the Explore Scientific 2" 6.5nm Oxygen III Nebula Filter. Designed to combat the challenges of light pollution, this filter is an essential tool for both amateur astronomers and astrophotographers.
Light pollution, caused by street lights and other artificial sources, can significantly hinder the observation of faint celestial objects beyond our solar system. The night sky in populated areas is often not truly dark, reducing the contrast and visibility of deep-sky objects. The Explore Scientific O-III Nebula Filter is designed to address this issue by filtering out the majority of this interfering light, enhancing your ability to observe these distant wonders.
This filter utilizes the properties of emission nebulae, celestial objects that emit light in specific colors, known as emission lines. These lines are associated with certain chemical elements, in this case, oxygen. The Explore Scientific O-III Nebula Filter selectively blocks all other colors, and thus nearly all artificial light, allowing only the two emission lines of oxygen to pass through.
The result is a dramatic improvement in visibility. Nebulae that were previously invisible, even with a 200mm telescope, suddenly become visible. For instance, the Cirrus Nebula NGC 6992, which is practically invisible in a slightly brightened sky, can be clearly seen and its structures easily observed when using this filter.
The Explore Scientific Nebula Filters come with an individual test report, ensuring that you receive a high-quality product. With a narrow pass range of only 6.5 nm bandwidth, this filter is capable of highlighting weakly glowing emission nebulae, even under challenging city conditions, making them visible for the first time.
Enhance your astronomical observations and astrophotography with the Explore Scientific 2" 6.5nm Oxygen III Nebula Filter, and discover the hidden wonders of the night sky.
