Great eyepiece

Bought for use in a 12" F/5 reflector, slight coma/aberration at the edge of the field as one would expect, but very well performing. Crisp view with good contrast and enough eye relief for use while wearing glasses.

I would have given it 5 Stars but it lacks a 2" barrel

In Oct. of 2018, I only paid $ A very good price sez me. It's a very nice looking EP. I judge it will be too fat for some bino adapters but I did not test for that. I would have preferred that it also fit a 2" focuser, but it does not. But it almost does. I love the 68-degree apparent FOV. It's just right for me. 82 degrees is just more than I care to look at. It has a nice heft to it. It weighs more than most EP's but only half of your average "Glass Hand-grenade". I used it last night to view Saturn for some sidewalk astronomy and received many compliments. Of the 61 people who stopped to look, everyone who wanted to leave their glasses on, could do so, so it has plenty of eye relief. Most EP's in this focal range could claim that. Also, it delivered a clear and sharp image at 159x. I was accused twice of having a "sticker" on the front of the scope because the image was so sharp. The rest of my gear was an Astro-Physics 127mm f6 APO triplet and a 5x Powermate. I would have given it 5 Stars but it lacks a 2" barrel. I see no need to carry a 32 Plossl anymore. I would definitely recommend this EP.

Good wide field eyepiece for 1.25" focusers

This gives about the widest field of view possible in a telescope with a 1.25" focuser. Eye relief is sufficient to allow me to wear my glasses and still see the entire field of view to the field stop. Quality is excellent -- and it's a comfortable eyepiece to use -- I don't find eye positioning to be super critical with this eyepiece. I've use this in a 12.5" f/5 reflector (with Paracorr coma corrector). Stars are sharp just about to the edge of the field of view.

Good wide field eyepiece for 1.25" focusers

By Aaron B.

The Explore Scientific 68 Degree Series 24mm Eyepiece is designed for those who prefer longer eye relief but still want to enjoy a field of view that is wider than a classic Plossl or Orthoscopic style eyepiece. If you wear eyeglasses and either want or need to keep them on while observing, the extra long eye relief built into this 68deg. model will allow you to do that and still observe comfortably. From the rubber grip and folding eyecup to the enhanced EMD coatings for superb contrast, this eyepiece is perfect solution for dropping the power down on your telescope, which will increase the exit pupil size and allow you to see the faintest objects that your telescope is capable of.
