I only use these when I need to completely block any other sounds. The sound isolation is simply insane. However, they are very uncomfortable. Even so, I am often able to still fall asleep with them in (their main purpose).

Love the accurate, tight sound and appreciate the slight bass boost that the XRs provide. Hoping I don't have to replace the cable but nice to know it's replaceable. Looking forward to my next flight to see how the noise isolation works in that environment.

Sound quality is pretty good, although if you are used to high end equipment and are expecting a wonderful portable solution you may be disappointed. Noise isolation is quite good, but cable rubbing is loud. I would have been better off using this to fund the difference between simple and great wireless earbuds. But if you plan to use it together with a good portable DAC+AMP, and are OK with cable rubbing noise, then go for it! With a piece from iFi it sounds wonderful.

This is fantastic! The sound is clear and enjoyable, not muddy or overly bassy. I am quite impress with this as I got this on sale and blown away. I have shure se846 and it was expensive, didn?t want to damage or lose it so I got this etymotic for daily driver while shure se846 for when I just want to sit down and listen. Highly recommended!

Great sounding pair of IEM. Great noise isolation. Sound is slightly different with foam vs flanged tips. Only thing that could make it better is if the wire was better quality and not so thin, and easy replaceable without buying the notched proprietary mmcx from Etymotic. Wouldn't personally pay full price for it but definitely a steal when on sale.

This is the best because simple reason. If it fits you, then there is no change in sound by different position. Best earbuds doesn't mean nothing to you if it doesn't fit you well. I Love this type of ear plug.

It's like I never actually heard "real" music until I tried this pair of IEMs. All the instruments and voices sounded clearer. The sound quality reflected the positions of the different instruments as opposed to all of the instruments coming from one direction causing a flat 2D sound. I have a newfound appreciation of music because of these.

I absolutely love these. I am so thankful to Adorama for providing the crazy sale price. The clarity and separation is the best I've heard. I think some people worry that they will be too clinical but I believe that the extra bass response (really only extra for Etymotic) keeps that from happening. You definitely want to look for superbly engineered recordings to really experience the quality sound that these can reproduce. As far as the deep insertion, yes they are meant to go deep but I personally don't find it an exceptional thing - I would say that if you are already ok with IEM's then you can handle the fit. I am now a fan of Etymotic and most definitely of Adorama. I'm a very satisfied customer.

This is the MRI of headphones: a clear, analytic closeup of the music. The Ety ER3XR straightforwardly presents whatever is in the track plus a modest bass boost -- a tuning I like better than the ER4SR, which seemed a little too flat and bright. Instruments and voices sound natural and intimate. The soundstage is stereo but not very three-dimensional. Coming to these from more typically consumer-tuned phones may seem like there's less bass, but that's not so. Run a frequency sweep or play some bass monster like OutKast's "The Way You Move": It extends all the way down, but it's not hugely pumped up. (You can always EQ.) The ER3XR will not flatter some music by blurring and blending; it's the no-makeup, sharp-focus version of the mix. You'll have to decide how they feel when they are properly deep in your ear. If you don't get that deep isolation seal they will sound tinny and awful. The flange tips were not for me but the foamies are extremely comfortable. Initially wearing them felt ticklish after a while, but after the first week they feel completely natural. The fit and reference + bass tuning are not for everyone; luckily Adorama has a friendly return policy. But there's a reason so many people love Etys. And if you get Adorama's email price by signing up for the list, these are an incredible bargain.

Seal is fantastic with the foams they give you. Be warned these go pretty deep into your ear, so this won't be ideal for use in certain settings. Sound great, no hiss even when using with a phone. Great instrument separation. Cable is nice and apparently detachable, which is fantastic. Nothing too fancy, but clearly durable enough for regular use.

Great IEMs, absolutely the best I have ever used. I would definitely recommend these to those than can afford it. However, I feel like the er2xr is a better value overall, and may be better choice for most people as it uses a dynamic driver. The er3xr's, although more expensive, comes with a BA driver for a nice and clean (not muddy) bass (but can be lacking for some). Mids are nice and smooth and the treble is not shrill at all. One issue I did have was on some recordings, bad mastering was really noticeable (usually buzzing sounds), but that's more of an issue with the recording than with the IEMs. These IEMs also include the double flange tips, which I find to be many times more comfortable than the triple flange tips. Overall, would definitely recommend, but I would also consider the er2xr.
