In a league of it's own!
This is the nicest guitar I've ever laid my hands on. I've owned and played most of the big name boutique guitars and this thing is in a league of it's own. The creation of the Wolfgang was a meticulous process, spanning over two years of rigorous trial-and-error research. This exhaustive endeavor resulted in a series of prototypes that were put through the wringer during Van Halen's triumphant world tour from 2007-2008. As the 2007 tour commenced, Eddie tested the limits of the Wolfgang's performance capabilities, playing various prototypes on virtually every song, every night. Throughout the tour, he fine-tuned components and specifications until he achieved the perfect balance of sound, feel, and aesthetics.
To ensure the Wolfgang was road-ready, performance data was collected from every gig for several months, confirming its consistency and durability. This rigorous testing and refinement process is what makes the Wolfgang the epitome of Eddie Van Halen's relentless pursuit of exceptional tone, robustness, and consistency.
Launched in January 2009, the EVH Wolfgang guitar is crafted to Eddie's exact specifications, mirroring every feature of the guitars he plays both on stage and in the studio. As Eddie Van Halen himself said, "Everything that I've built, destroyed, stumbled onto, learned and experienced is in this guitar."
Every component of this guitar has been scrutinized and enhanced to the highest standards possible. It boasts stainless steel frets, double-potted custom-wound pickups, five-piece binding on the matching body and headstock, custom-made signature tuning machines, a Floyd Rose bridge, and new low-friction pots.
