How does one encapsulate over 35 years of guitar design experience and expertise  Eddie Van Halen answers this question with the creation of the Wolfgang USA Electric Guitar, a testament to his relentless pursuit of perfection in sound, durability, and consistency. This Stealth Gray masterpiece, featuring an Ebony Fretboard, is the result of more than two years of meticulous research, trial, and error. The development process of the Wolfgang was no small feat. It involved the creation of numerous prototypes that were subjected to a full year of rigorous in-concert road testing during Van Halen's triumphant 2007-2008 world tour. The outcome  A robust, tonally superior guitar that not only withstands the most demanding performances but also craves more. As the tour commenced in fall 2007, Eddie pushed the boundaries of the Wolfgang's performance capabilities. He played various Wolfgang prototypes on virtually every song, every night, fine-tuning components and specifications until he achieved the perfect balance of sound, feel, and aesthetics. To ensure the Wolfgang was road-ready and durable, performance data was collected from every gig for several months. This data confirmed the guitar's consistency and resilience, solidifying the Wolfgang as the epitome of Eddie Van Halen's tireless quest for excellence. Launched to the public in January 2009, the EVH Wolfgang guitar is built to Eddie's exact specifications. It mirrors every feature of the Wolfgang guitars Eddie plays onstage and in the studio. As Eddie Van Halen himself said, "Everything that I've built, destroyed, stumbled onto, learned and experienced is in this guitar." The Wolfgang USA Electric Guitar boasts a plethora of upgraded features to meet the highest standards. These include stainless steel frets, double-potted custom-wound pickups, five-piece binding on the matching body and headstock, custom-made signature tuning machines, a Floyd Rose bridge, and new low-friction pots. No detail was overlooked in the creation of this exceptional instrument. In essence, the Wolfgang USA Electric Guitar, with its Ebony Fretboard and Stealth Gray finish, is more than just a guitar. This is the nicest guitar I've ever laid my hands on.  I've owned and played most of the big name boutique guitars and this thing is in a league of it's own.  It feels like a mix of the best LP and Strat combo ever.   The neck is, without question, the best neck I've ever played on.  The guitar feels like it plays itself.  The action is extremely low and I can still bend like nobody's business with not even a hint of fretting out.  The neck finish is awesome.  So soft feeling with absolutely no resistance as you move your hand around the neck.  Ebony fretboard and vintage SS frets?  Who would ever dream up such a thing?  EVH, that's who!!!  The man was a genius player and obviously a genius guitar builder, because this combo of fretwood and fret size/material is the slickest ever.  I've played on a lot of SS fretted guitars but this, once again, is in a league of it's own.  I've had mine for two months now and know, for a fact, that this will never leave.  Is it worth 4.6K?  Yep, it is.  It's not chump change for me (far from it), but dang if I don't feel it was money well spent.
