It underwent a series of prototypes, each subjected to a full year of grueling on-stage testing during Van Halen's triumphant world tour from 2007-2008. This is the nicest guitar I've ever laid my hands on.  I've owned and played most of the big name boutique guitars and this thing is in a league of it's own.  It feels like a mix of the best LP and Strat combo ever.   The neck is, without question, the best neck I've ever played on.  The guitar feels like it plays itself.  The action is extremely low and I can still bend like nobody's business with not even a hint of fretting out.  The neck finish is awesome.  So soft feeling with absolutely no resistance as you move your hand around the neck.  Ebony fretboard and vintage SS frets?  Who would ever dream up such a thing?  EVH, that's who!!!  The man was a genius player and obviously a genius guitar builder, because this combo of fretwood and fret size/material is the slickest ever.  I've played on a lot of SS fretted guitars but this, once again, is in a league of it's own.  I've had mine for two months now and know, for a fact, that this will never leave.  Is it worth 4.6K?  Yep, it is.  It's not chump change for me (far from it), but dang if I don't feel it was money well spent.
