I bought this for my Canon 50D and 24-105L Lens Combo. I use it snorkeling and SCUBA diving and have taken the unit down to 75 feet. It has not leaked. This is a good thing. You, however, get what you pay for (and that is not a bad thing). I did not want to spend $ on hard housing so I picked this up. It works great in shallow water. You need to fill unit with air prior to submerging, which requires you to add weight. I bought the weight that comes as an accessory yet still clip on 3 pounds for a total of 7 pounds weight. That causes some serious awkwardness wielding the camera. You need to get used to it. As the air compresses, clip on weights are good because you can remove it from the unit at depth. I had difficulty using the unit beyond 60 feet. The air inside compresses so much that it was very difficult to use the controls (think vacuum seal). I have also found that the shoe mount flash is just too close to the lens that I shoot mostly with flash off, otherwise every particle in the water is reflected in flash (not a problem in really clear water). Overall, I like it and am satisfied, but I know that once I start diving more I will buy a better housing. If you can't afford a pro housing yet want to take your SLR underwater do not be afraid to buy this unit, just realize there are limitations.

Great for shallow depth work with MkII and 580ex.. also used 24mm 1.4 with no additional light and got good results. best to set ASA and other preferences before putting in case... review buttons work pretty well and wheel works ok... I feel safer with this bag than a hard case ... have never gone below 6'... USM lenses work better than external focus.. a rubber band can keep front glass flat against lens housing...

The housing can be used on small boats, in the surf, while swimming, snorkeling or diving. It's easy to operate the camera as its various components and buttons can be operated through the PVC.
The U-AXP is designed to fit almost all common SLR cameras on the market today, irrespective of the manufacturer or model. With thishousing, a whole new world of applications opens up for your standard SLR camera: Inside the housing you can now take the camera safely canoeing, snorkeling or even diving, up to a depth of 50 m / 150 ft
The housing is larger than its sister model, the U-Ax, for two reasons: Firstly it was designed to take the larger SLR cameras like the Nikon F4, F5 and Canon EOS 1, EOS 3 (please note, that you will need a special adapter for the AV110-x which is available from your dealer or distributor) and secondly the extra volume of air trapped inside the housing allows a dive depths of up to 50m / 150 ft !
If the optional BF1 lead weight is inserted into the housing, underneath the camera, it becomes even easier to reach the maximum depth. Experienced photographers have confirmed, that the auto focus and flash both continue to function perfectly. As you descend, the air is pressed into the camera. Due to this, the pressure inside the housing will remain the same as the surrounding water pressure. (this is the reason why ewa-marine housings are so safe to use: implosions are impossible) Due to this, we have to start the dive with a suitable amount of air inside the housing. The foam pads supplied with the housing are part of this air "reservoir" and additional air should also be blown into the housing, via the valve at the rear, to ensure that the maximum potential volume is being utilised.
Designed specifically for SLR cameras, the U-AXP housing is manufactured from double laminated PVC and has an integrated, optically neutral flat glass port. The external flash that is commonly used on SLR cameras fits into the specially designed section on the top of the housing.
It has a pair of non-corrosive and seawater resistant clamping rails which fit together for perfect sealing. They tighten by means of three screw knobs.
It is supplied in a handy yellow carry-case which has a water-proof interior and zippered side-pocket
