When it comes to capturing high-definition audio, the Earthworks SR30 Hypercardioid Condenser Microphone stands out with its advanced features and superior performance. This directional pre-polarized condenser microphone is equipped with a first-order Hypercardioid pickup pattern, directly coupled to a dedicated wideband, low output impedance transformer-less preamplifier.
Designed to operate with a standard 48V Phantom Power supply, the SR30 offers a flat frequency response ranging from 20Hz to 30kHz. This wide frequency range, coupled with its fast impulse response, ensures that every sound detail is captured with utmost clarity. The microphone also boasts very low handling noise and high SPL handling capabilities, making it an excellent choice for both studio recording and live performances.
One of the standout features of the Earthworks SR30 is its uniform polar pattern, which provides exceptional uncolored rejection of sounds arriving off-axis. This feature makes it an ideal choice for recording a variety of instruments, including sax, flute, trumpet, guitar, piano, and percussion. It also excels in capturing choir performances, as it doesn't spotlight but rather picks up an entire section with no hot spots.
Connecting the SR30 to a microphone preamplifier supplying 48V phantom power is a breeze, thanks to the standard XLR microphone cable. It's recommended to allow the microphone to settle for up to one minute after plugging in. The microphone is designed to withstand being plugged in "hot", which can actually lead to faster settling.
The SR30 is not just about performance, it's also built to last. Protected by U.S Patent No. 6,091,829, this microphone is designed to resist extreme heat and condensing humidity. However, to ensure its longevity, avoid touching the front protective screen and never attempt to disassemble the microphone. When not in use, it's best to store the SR30 in its case.
In conclusion, the Earthworks SR30 Hypercardioid Condenser Microphone is a versatile, high-performance audio equipment that delivers superior sound quality across a wide range of applications.
