I shoot with a sony a7iii and I feel like the expodisc doesn't work nearly as well as the gary fong gray dome.

I highly recommend these. Have purchased three times before in different sizes. I upsize when I get a larger lens. Bought a larger size for my new lens. I like the consistancies provided by a preset.

Simply the easiest way to get accurate white balance in complicated lighting situations. Extremely quick and easy using PRE WB setting on my Nikon D810.

Even though the auto white balance feature is pretty decent on many cameras these days, having tried this out for a while now, I can honestly say I should have bought one sooner. The colors (at least to me) seem to be much closer to what my eyes see.

I love the ExpoDisc! I use it indoors and out, every time the light changes It is easy to use and gives me a perfect white balance every time. a quick 6 or 7 seconds and you are ready with a custom white balance. I lost my first one :( this is my second! I love the two warming portrait filters you can stack also!

It actually works very nicely, improvement on color balance is noticeable over auto/balance. If you use a Kelvin meter you’ll probably not want one of these..

Works better than expected. When on shoots with clients it is an essential must use for me. I could not run my business without it. I use a zoom lens with large diameter filter threads so I ended up having to modify my ExpoDisc. I broke off all of the internal pieces used to let you clip it into the filter ring of your lens. The only downside is that I have to hold it by hand when white balancing. It only takes a second to use and it is very easy to hold by hand so I'm ok with this trade-off. 9/10 definitely recommend

Held off buying one of these for a while, have grey cards & color checkers. But this was recommended and it is so useful ! Quick and easy white balance in camera ( and exposure check 29th an extra step). Now it is essential kit. Was advised to go for the larger size but the 82mm doesn't fit well over my 72 and 77mm lenses. Expensive.

I am very happy with the white balance results one obtains with the ExpoDisc. I find I am using it less than anticipated however, because it is a bit time consuming. One must shoot with the ExpoDisc attached, then remove it and import the white balance data for the actual shot. For portraits, product photography and such, or in rooms with consistent lighting it is great - Five stars for that use - But in the field, where light can change moment to moment (especially during "golden hours") and subjects can move, it is not as useful. When outdoor natural light is relatively stable - shade etc - it is effective.

I bought this item before I had my white balance mastered. It seemed to make all of my pictures too warm. I was frustrated with this item because it didn't give me the results that I was looking for. shortly after that I learned to use Kelvin temperature for white balance and have never gone back.

No more carrying around a bulky fold out grey for color balance. Has a neck strap to always have out ready for use, and takes up less room in my camera bag.

Love using this on both my Canon 5d Mark III and 7d Mark II, just follow the instructions, set your 18% grey and lock your exposure and go to shooting. Never make a change unless your light changes.

Custom white balance made easy!
By Steven B.
I was amazed at how easy it was to create a custom white balance with this filter! When I first got it I tried it out by shooting a couple of pictures of my wife in our office. First picture AWB, second picture after using the filter according to the instructions. The light in my office is a mixture of several different color temperatures of CFL's, and a bit of light coming in from LED's in other parts of the house, all bouncing off of a couple of different colored but mostly dull off whit...

The ExpoImaging ExpoDisc 2.0 82mm Professional White Balance Filter helps to set white balance, meter for exposure and dust map your sensor with the only calibrated and certified 18% transmission incident light metering filter.
Use the ExpoDisc to Save Time Editing White Balance in Photo and Video
Whether shooting in RAW or JPEG, photographers using ExpoDisc to white balance their images save valuable time in photo editing software. When used to set a custom white balance, the ExpoDisc consistently produces excellent color in natural, artificial and studio lighting and it even excels in difficult mixed lighting environments. The ExpoDisc is far easier to use than any gray card, white card or calibration target. Simply place the ExpoDisc in front of your lens and capture the incident light while setting your camera's custom white balance. Using an ExpoDisc custom white balance will virtually eliminate the need for RAW or JPEG post-capture color adjustments.
Meter for 18% Incident Exposure with the ExpoDisc
The ExpoDisc is not just for white balance, though. The precision calibration and uniformity of the ExpoDisc means that it can also be used to meter for an 18% incident exposure and to produce a dust map of the image sensor. To meter for an 18% exposure, stand at the subject's position and aim the camera back towards the intended shooting position. Use the camera's meter as seen through the viewfinder to adjust the aperture, shutter speed, or ISO until a proper exposure is indicated. It's also possible to make exposure adjustments based upon the position of the histogram spike on an ExpoDisc test shot. Simply adjust the aperture, shutter speed, or ISO until the spike is centered.
ExpoDisc 2.0 Design Attaches Securely to Lenses and Threaded Filters
The ExpoDisc 2.0's new filter mount utilizes a new button-activated spring design which allows the ExpoDisc to securely attach to lenses and even to low-profile threaded lens filters.
Larger ExpoDisc Sizes Can Be Used with Smaller Lenses
The ExpoDisc 2.0 is available in a 77mm filter size. As with the original ExpoDisc, a larger ExpoDisc can be used with smaller filter size lenses by simply holding the ExpoDisc over the lens during the white balance procedure.
