I have used this extender for a little over two years for bird photography and am completely satisfied with the product, and highly recommend it. This flash extender makes it possible to creat good pics under very poor lighting conditions, and the better the natural light the better the performance. I use a Cannon 600 EX which this product fits perfectly. I have used this product five days each week on average and the only thing that has worn is the velcro attaching the lens to the plastic side supports. This is easily overcome with one piece of tape at the corners to assist. I have also used a similar product by Pro Master but it is too heavy and would require extensive modification to equal the performance of the Better Beamer. It took me some time shooting to get used to this flash extender, but now that I have made that adjustment I don’t go into the field without it. I recommend the Better Beamer to anyone serious about their nature photography.

It's ok, although expensive for what you get. I find it's awkward to install on a 600 EX II speed light.

I bought the Better Beamer FX-3 a week or so ago to use with my Canon 600EX II RT flash. The Better Beamer delivers just like they say, it directs the concentrated flash well. I have used it from 30ft to 50ft and have had very good results with it. The Better Beamer FX-3 does not fit the 600EX II RT very well but it is a fairly close fit and will work but does not match the shape well. Even with the fit I would say buy one and you won't be sorry. I have really enjoyed mine.

Contrary to what some have said in the Q&A area for this product, it does NOT fit the 600EX II RT.

Projects the light and illuminates the birds feathers beautifully with at least a 300mm lens and speed light

I just started using an external flash for my bird photos because I needed a little extra bump. The Better Beamer really directs the flash's light to the subject and in combination with a negative exposure compensation setting, it really makes the subject pop! Very easy to set up and use.

Collapses to small size. I have added aluminum foil on top and bottom, and have taped it to a dedicated manual flash. Try flash with lens not zoomed to get center of illumination adjusted properly. Then tape it down and leave it.

Wanted for birding and other situations requiring that extra boost for my external Canon 580 flash. It Works as expected and I'm happy with it. Light and easy to carry and pack for travel.

Small lightweight, easy to install and effective. What more could you ask for? Lower cost and interchangeability with different flash models would help. Still, it really helps in shooting birds from a distance and in getting the catch light in the eye.

The instructions are a little confusing and if you follow the instructions, the left and right marker on the plastic sides are upside down. A picture is worth 1000 poorly conveyed words.

Should be made as one unit with hinges that make it foldable instead of three seperate pieces.

Works as advertised, but HEED the safety instructions. That lens is no joke! I used it to ignite some tinder as an experiment. If you need to start a fire in an emergency situation it will ignite one! Neat idea and simple as can be. Would buy again.

Easy to pack and carry. Installs quickly. Focuses the light perfectly for a 400L when used with a 480EX II for bird photos.

The Better Beamer let's me get those shots that need a lot of light. I use it a 580EXii and my 100-400mm L, 200mm L, and 28-135mm lenses. The results are great and I highly recommend it.

Put one of these on your flash, stick on a warming gel, and with a long lens get out in your backyard and photograph birds late in the day. Set your camera to tungsten and you will love the results. (thanks to Joe McNally, the Moment It Clicks)

Just used the beamer yesterday shooting birds. Great range for fill in flash. Make sure you get it aligned right by testing on an object in your basement or garage. Be careful. Watch for sun hitting lens from in front or behind because this lens can and has burned flash units, lenses, fingers etc. If you can afford it, it might be a good idea to purchase an extra beamer to dedicate to flash unit and have another to travel with (this folds up quite nicely and is light). A very useful and inexpensive accessory.

Better Beamer arrived on time and I had a chance to use it for my bird photography. At focal length 300mm (25 yards away from subject), Better Beamer really shines up my subject which is the bird's eyes. It is easy to attach to my Canon 580 EX II. The velcro on the film sticks very well; however, I think it will lose a little bit if we use it often.

The pictures depicting this product are just at the right angle that you don't see the 3 pieces of plastic its made out of. No top, no bottom. You can make this for around 5 dollars and it would be a quality piece. Grrrrr!!!!!!!!!!! Save your money

The Beamer velcrostraps on easily to your flash. I use the canon 580. Make sure your flash is a compatible size. I use it for Birding day and night. Close ups are too bright for birds and owls eyes, though. Be aware of wildlife preservation and act accordingly. You may get 100-200ft. distance light with this inexpensive tool.
