Versatile light modifier. I use it to enhance natural light as well as bumping light at receptions. I have no problem with it keeping it's round shape, in fact I find it quite durable and reliable. I am specifically reviewing this because I was going to pick up another one and I noticed quite a few negative reviews. I wanted this product better represented. I love mine. I also use the Honl Traveller 16 for broader light.

very easy to use
This softbox is very easy to fit on the flash and provides great diffusion. i love that it folds up easily for transport and is easy to get on the flash

Works as advertised
Within 5 minutes of opening the package I was using the Traveler8 for portraits with my Nikon SB800
.
I followed the instructions for attaching the diffuser to the cone and the unit retained its shape without any problems.
For best results keep it close to your subject.

"too much whiz & not enough bang"
I have the same issues as Curt. It's round shape can't be held. I tried balloons, rubber bands, placing books on it, soup bowls inside it. Yet it never held its shape. It's overpriced, difficult to handle. If someone has an answer to maintaining it's round shape, please feel free to share. Thanks

Poor design, even worse output softbox.
I wanted a portable softbox to handle portrait shots. Unless you're on top of the person the softbox effect is non-existant. A Honl 8" Snoot/Bounce reflector is the solution. Poor design and functionabily.

Nice portrait lighting accessory
This product produces an excellent soft light for portrait work. Its bulky shape impacts the ability of flash sensors to send out signals unless you tilt it up. I have been tilting it and getting good results. It is a little overpriced in my opinion, but the product delivers soft portrait lighting.

Not ready for pro use
This was my first Honl purchase and might be my last. At this price, I expected much, much better. The softbox folds flat when not in use, which is great for portability and saving room in the gear bag, but when deployed would not hold its shape and would collapse on itself. I intended to use it as a modifier on my "Light on a stick"- a Canon 580EX-II mounted on a 12' collapsible painter's pole. I spent so much time trying to keep the thing open, I wasn't getting the shots I needed at a recent wedding reception. I ended up going with a Sto-Fen diffuser to try and soften the light a bit, which is OK, but lacks the direction of light I was hoping to achieve with this product.
So, at this price, I'd say absolutely not to this disappointing product. For a third of the price though, I'd find a way to prop it open and deal with it. The portability would be an acceptable trade-off.
