Daniel W : 1. How does this attach to the SCT? I don't see clamps or screws. 2. Does the mask fit inside of the SCT tube?DARYL K : Hi We just taped it in place but you can make custom mount.FANOURIOS H : The mask fits nicely inside the front rim. It is not completely centered because the hole in the center is bigger than the cover of the secondary mirror that extends out of the corrector plate (glass). A cheap and extremely effective way to center the mask and prevent it from falling is to add a "universal fit - flash valve shank washer" that is conical on one side. You stabilize the mask by inserting the conical part of the rubber washer facing the telescope. Get one from a home improvement hardware store for about 2 dollars. Inside diameter must be 2-1/4 inches and outside diameter 2-7/8 inches. It fits very snugly and some force is required to fit the washer around the secondary mirror cap. Because of this care must be taken to avoid scratching the corrector plate. -DrFJOHN L : The hole in the center of the mask fits over the central obstruction in the open end of the telescope. When placed over this hub, the mask rests against the glass.DAN S : Dan - It doesn't attach but just rests on the rim of the SCT. It works great to nail the focus by the way.GARY B : Fits just inside the tube and over the secondary holder. I use it to focus with my Mallincam video camera on a bright star. It's hard to focus with this camera without the mask.

Bahtinov Focus mask works great

Does everything it’s supposed to do. Makes focusing a snap. Only problem was the center hole was too small to fit my Celestron 8se and I had to do a little filing to make it larger.

Needs to fit right

This product does what it's supposed to i.e. Good tight focus. However, the company needs far better quality control. I should not receive any new product regardless of the price and have to modify it in order for it to work on what it's designed to work on! After about 20-30 minutes of sanding ( wasting rare clear winter sky's mind you ) I managed to get it to fit the 8" SCT that it is designed for. Excellent product, horrendous quality control.

Really helps get the best focus.

It works just like I've seen described on various websites. It is made of sturdy plastic with some flexibility. The outside diameter fits nicely in my 8" Nexstar evolution SCT. The center hole was a bit small to fit around the secondary mirror holder. But with careful use of a round file, I enlarged the hole for a custom fit.
