You get what you pay for
I bought this to mount a flash remotely on a tripod. It served my immediate need adequately, but the construction is so flimsy that I would not expect it to survive packing in a gear bag. It does not lock down tightly enough to allow more than approximate aiming. That's not a big issue for me at the moment, but if precise aiming is important to you, this will not do it.

This unit has a central screw that supports the lightweight metal shoe. There is lateral instability, particularly at the full forward or back position. The thin metal shoe is with a semi leaf spring(?) base is extreemly tight, making mounting of the flash challenging and risky to the base of the flash. I definately would not trust this unit with a heavy or expensive flash unit.

Just what the doctor ordered !!!!!
This works great with my Nikon Wireless flash system. Its one thing to mount a flash but to have the ability to tilt it and get JUST the right angle necessary to get the perfect picture is great.

Decent piece of kit
When I originally bought this, I thought it moved the hotshoe contacts to the adjustable one. Then I realized this is a cold shoe, even though it's made of metal. So all this does is give you a cold shoe you can pivot. Unless you have a pc socket or slave unit to fire your flash, this won't be of any use to you.
For what it is, it does work. The plastic foot is kind of tight on my Pentax, but maybe that's a good thing since it has no method to lock to the shoe. I would not trust a heavy flash on this. Construction is not very sturdy. Not sure how it will hold up.
