Mounting an M42 lens to the Nikon F mount is problematic. You can get a direct mount for less money but focus is limited to about 5 feet. That's fine if you want to do Macro photos. This product focuses to infinity but has a 1.4 zoom factor. That means a 50mm lens will be a 70mm lens. I tested the product and I found no added lens distortion or chromatic aberration. (color fringing) So this is a great product for the money.
