Fotodiox Lens Mount Adapter Pentax K Lens to Canon EOS EF-Mount Camera

I bought this adapter to adapt some vintage lenses that I had recently acquired onto my Canon 100D (crop sensor DSLR). The adapter came within a week and was in good condition without any weird residue or rough edges from the manufacturing process. The build quality is solid and could definitely handle a couple drops without any issue. The ridges on the outside ring are super helpful for twisting and turning the thin adapter. I have had no problem adapting the lenses onto the 100D as well as the Canon 6D. The only issue that I have specifically with this product is how difficult it can be to take the adapter off of a lens. The product does not come with any instructions on how to remove the adapter from the K-mount of a lens, and I had to search through forums and Youtube videos instead. Basically, there is a thin piece of metal on the EF-mount side of the lens that holds one of the bayonets of the K-mount in place. This piece of metal must be lifted up by hand over the bayonet to then be able to turn the adapter and take it off of a lens. This piece can be a little hard at first but will become less rigid with use. One last thing to note is that depending on the lens that you use, there may be some wiggle resulting from a lot of space for the previously mentioned thin metal piece to move around. The specific lens that I had this issue with was the Auto-Sears 135mm f/2.8, but I haven't had any issues with my other lenses. This play with between the adapter and lens does make it a pain to try and manually focus as the lens itself keeps moving when you try and pull the focus, but it isn't impossible. Fotodiox, I think a brief instruction manual with the product would certainly help your customers who may not find the adapter's usage to be intuitive. Overall I am pretty happy with my purchase, it's a ton of fun to be able to use my vintage lenses with my digital cameras, especially now that I know how to take off the adapter lol.

This adapter ring does connect my Pentax K mount macro lens to my Canon Rebel, but with no shutter or electronic connectivity. For macro work this is mostly irrelevant.

Connects an old Pentax lens I'm fond of to a speedbooster with an EF lens mount for use with a Fujiflm X camera, and so far gets the job done. Annoying that you can't release the lens from this adapter without getting in with your fingernail or a knife or something, but I guess it can't be avoided being that essentially the whole adapter needs to live inside the mount it's fitted to. What I can blame on the design though is that the lens has a more rotational play when mounted than needed, which makes focusing or changing the aperture literally a clunky experience. They really could have improved the tolerance so that the lens locks into the adapter without play. Gets the job done though, and the price is good.

I initially liked the way I could use my old Pentax M lenses on my canon eos cameras. The adapters are a bit flimsy but the price is good. However, my Pentax lenses have rectangular collimating on at the back of the lens which ends up at about a 30 degree angle to the rectangular collimating of the camera. This leads to about an Fstop of light lost, some loss of contrast and probably some internal reflections. Not an issue worthy the Nikon F to Canon eos adapter because Nixon has a round collimator.
