From the iconic era of the 1970s, the American Original '70s Telecaster Custom Electric Guitar, with its Maple Fingerboard and Vintage Blonde finish, is a stylish and classic representation of Fender's commitment to quality and innovation. This model is a testament to the time when popular music was evolving towards the rich, full tones of humbucking pickups and overdriven amps.
Fender collaborated with the renowned humbucking pickup designer, Seth Lover, to create a unique, Fender-style, high-output dual-coil pickup. The outcome was the Wide Range pickup, which utilized large bobbins and threaded CuNiFe rod magnets to produce its distinctive and brilliant sound.
The American Original '70s Telecaster Custom is the first to feature an authentic CuNiFe magnet powered Wide Range neck pickup in over four decades. This is perfectly balanced by a calibrated Tim-Shaw-designed '70s Telecaster single-coil bridge pickup. The guitar's controls include individual volume and tone for each pickup, and an upper-bout 3-way toggle switch for versatile sound options.
The guitar boasts original-era body radii, vintage-style hardware - including F logo tuners and bullet truss rod adjust, and a lacquer finish that allows the wood to breathe naturally, enhancing its resonant tone. A vintage-style hardshell case is included for secure storage and transport.
The nitrocellulose lacquer finish not only enhances the guitar's true tonal character but also ages and wears in a unique, personal way. The first authentic CuNiFe magnet powered Wide Range pickup in over 40 years delivers clear, bell-like humbucking tones.
For fans of the original-era, rest assured that every curve and line of the body, as well as the shape of the neck, are accurate to the historic originals. From the bridge to the string tree and tuning machines, every piece of hardware is just like the original.
The 9.5"-radius fingerboard is slightly flatter than a vintage-style 7.25" radius, providing a comfortable fret-hand feel. Vintage-tall frets make it easier to bend notes without fretting out. The "Medium C" Neck Profile is remarkably comfortable, sculpted for a period-correct playing feel that's comfortable for all players.
In essence, the American Original '70s Telecaster Custom Electric Guitar is a reliable, durable, and high-quality instrument that pays homage to Fender's rich history while providing musicians with the tools to create their own legacy.
