Wow, for the price, this is an amazing deal. Years ago when I first started studio photography, I bought a bunch of cheap light stands. I soon realized they were flimsy and useless. After reading reviews I bit the bullet and decided to go with Matthews stands. I now have 3 rolling and 4 stationary and they are the best I've ever used. I needed 2 more rolling stands and after pricing Matthews (crazy high) decided to try the Flashpoint. This thing is seriously heavy duty and a third of the price of Matthews! I'm very impressed! The only negatives are the fit and finish are not quite as nice and the tightening knobs are not quite as beefy but I would definitely buy them again.

I've been needing a larger wheeled stand for the studio that I could pair up with a 4' octabox on a 86" boom arm. Was previously using a wheeled c-stand, but those aren't really designed for casters and never liked how it felt when boomed all the way out, especially with the 4' octabox and light on the end. After using this stand for the last month, I'm really happy with the overall design and the features, especially for the price when compared to similar stands from Matthews and Kupo. It feels much more studier than my previous c-stand setup when I'm using it with my Profoto B10X Plus w/ 4' Octabox on an Avenger 86" boom arm. The spring loaded risers are handy when lowering each riser section, especially with the weight of the light, softbox, boom arm, and counter weight mounted on top. When fully extended, there is no leaning with the risers, unlike with some of my c-stands from Matthews, Kupo, etc, the wider diameter risers on this stand definitely help with that aspect. The large casters roll really smoothly across the hard surface floor in the studio and they don't leave any marks/scuffs, but the lockup between the casters and the legs leave a lot to be desired (see my reason below). My dislikes are: - Riser Wing Knobs: The 3 wing knobs for each riser section are relatively small compared to the size of this stand. The width of the riser knobs are 2.25", which are basically the same as the riser knobs on the majority of my c-stand from various brands. Which on a smaller stand like a c-stand, is fine, but they feel a bit small on this much larger and heavier stand. One thing I did add to each knob was wrapping them with some 1/2" gaffers tape for some added grip (see 2nd photo). If they would've used a similar or same size wing knob as the larger one on the grip head (see 3rd photo), that would've been perfect. - Casters: The complaint I have with them is how they lock up with the legs on the stand. Even with the bolt/nut cranked down as tight as I can get it, almost to the point of the wrench wanting to slip on the nut, the casters still have a large gap between the leg and the inside of the caster clamp (see 4th photo). The split clamp design on the casters doesn't want to squeeze in on the legs very much (see 5th photo), so when the stand/casters aren't on the ground, they move around a lot. The cross bolts are the only thing really holding them on to each leg. So far the poor fitment between the casters and legs doesn't seem to affect the overall use since they roll smoothly when the stand is full deployed. I had originally reached out to Adorama CS and Flashpoint CS in regards to this issue, Adorama CS instructed me to send an email to a specialist via the brands@adorama.com email, but their specialist hasn't replied at all to my email asking if the fitment is supposed to be like that, same for Flashpoint CS. With some minor design tweaks, this stand would be an easy 5/5. Despite the cons I listed, I'd still recommend this stand to anyone needing a sturdy wheeled stand for a boom arm setup, just be aware it's much larger than a c-stand.

Excellent grip. This stand is big, but sturdy with steel construction, great for boom arms.

Have no idea why they call this "Junior"? this stand is massive! i couldnt believe the diameter of the main tube i have it set up with a boom remote heat and 36'' softbox fully extended stable as a rock!

This stand is amazing. It's sturdy, stabile, and apart from the rubber rings that dampens the action when you collapse it, it's all metal. I bought two, and if I ever need more heavy-duty stands, this is the one I'll get.

I got a pair of these after a group of HS lacrosse players knocked over one of my normal lightstands on a shoot (breaking the bulb on the Xplor400 it was carrying... luckily the light itself was unharmed). they are so badass that people give them a wide berth, and when they don't they find themselves being moved instead of the stand... they're like the Wakandan Dora Milaje of lightstands.

Incredible stand! It is so stable and the wheels roll well and make the stand easily moveable without worrying about tipping. I had been worried about the size of this stand but I can easily put this in the back of my Mini Cooper!

Very sturdy product able to hold any size soft box, as well as, my 28 mola Demi BD. The foot print on this stand is very wide and their isn?t anything junior about it.

Incredibly well built and large stand. Solid and reliable and an incredible value at this price. I only wish I'd bought two, as it's been on backorder for a while now and I wish I had another!

This thing is a beast!!! I don't even need to use sand bags! I love it. My only complaint is that the footprint is soooo big I have a tendency to trip on it while in the studio. That's 100% on me though. Just know that you're going to need some floor space to move this thing around.

This is an extremely sturdy product, I couldn?t be happier with the quality! I?m replacing a C-stand without wheels. The base is quite a bit bigger (it?s actual footprint) so for my small living room studio, that?s a small con, but it actually makes the stand extremely stable.

I honestly didn't expect this. This is a real heavy duty, well constructed stand. Not the easiest unit to carry to a location session but awesome in the studio!.

Couldn't be happier. All the reviews that say this is a tank are accurate. It's not light. It's not small. But it's awesome.

This thing is an absolute beast. Heavier than my C-Stands, and the base is super wide. I just used it for the first time on an outdoor shoot at a park and it was windy. On top was a 36" parabolic softbox and my Xplor 600 Pro, I didn't even need a sand bag. I have the flashhead extension for outdoor use with C-Stands, and I didn't need that either. On a windy day! This thing is stupid sturdy. I kind of hate myself for not knowing this existed! It rolls smoothly on pavement, but I went off road with it. Rolls on grass, rolls on dirt, rolls on small compacted rock roads. The only path I had to carry it on was a larger rocks path, but It far exceeded my expectations. This stand is like having an assistant. Made everything sooooo much easier. This is my new favorite photography accessory.

Ridiculously solid and beastly stands that I trust to hold my heavy fixtures. Buy them, you will not regret it.

I honestly can't believe the quality of this stand for the money. It's HUGE and heavy, but I finally don't have to worry about my lights tipping over when shooting outdoors in the gale-force winds of a Texas Spring. PLUS, it comes with very high quality wheels, which cost extra on some of the established name brand stands. And it comes with a Junior to Baby adapter, which is also extra with other brands. Wish I'd discovered this stand earlier.

This is a beast compared to 'Heavy duty light stands'. No worries with a heavy head and modifier flying out there. Of course it weighs a LOT more too. Very solid.

Better value than Matthews
By Mark K.
I have two of these stands and they are well made and a wonderful value. You can read my full review of them on my blog: http://www.markkitaoka.com/latest-news/review-flashpoint-junior-steel-wheeled-stand-12/
Works for me!
By James G.
Ordered this stand and 10' c-stands . I need the extra height for 8' parabolic umbrellas . I put the c-stand in the jr pin socket , it gives me about 22' and works great taking a team photo in the stands.
The Flashpoint Junior 3 section 12 foot steel wheeled stand is no shorty lightweight contender. No sir! It is the massive studio support with a real altitude!
Produced to accommodate heavy duty Junior Pin (1 1/8”) devices in the socket receiver. The wide stance guarantees stability and center of gravity to support the most challenging lighting gear. The massive stand will handle the largest booms without flinching. All steel durable tubular risers sections are spring loaded for safety and meet at aluminum knuckles with generous wing knobs. Fixtures as heavy as 60 pounds whirl around like they were on skates on ice, without losing balance, while being placed into position. The long leg brace design provides the right amount of spread to prevent tipping and each leg accepts non marking casters that lock to keep Junior in place. When you are ready to close it all up, after removing the light, the stand can safely stay vertical on 3 toe claws that are part of the removable rolling assembly. Just in case the Junior receiver is not important to you but you still want to take advantage of the absolute solid mastery of this big guy for supporting your gear, we include a Pin Adapter to transform the Junior head into a Baby Pin for more standard connections. This is the kind of colossal lightstand you can pass on to your inheritors, after long years of great active service.
